Hollie Layne Taylor, 29, of Clarksville, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022.
She entered this life on Sept. 23, 1993, in Germany. She was a graduate of Middle College at Austin Peay State University and Southern New Hampshire University. She achieved her bachelor’s degree in Forensics Psychology and was currently studying for her master’s degree. She had a love for animals, Alabama football, Jeeps and Clarksville Jeep Crew. She was a registered ABA and worked with Mobile Therapy Centers of America specializing in autism behavior.

Larry Oley Scott

On Nov. 22, 2022, Larry Oley Scott, 77, was surrounded by his wife and three sons as he left his earthly home and entered his heavenly home. He passed peacefully at his residence in the early morning hours, ending a life defined by a strong devotion to God and his family. Betty Jo Strickland Cantrell

Betty Jo Strickland Cantrell, 86, of Florence, passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022.
She is survived by her daughters - Anita (Don) Miller and Lanetta Koonce; sister - Ann Johnson; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents - Carlie and Ollis Strickland; husband - William Reginald Cantrell; brothers - Johnny and Hershel Strickland; sisters - Billie Nell Upton and Wanda Sue Johnson; step-sons - Bill and Elvis Cantrell; and beloved dog - Squeaky.

Michael Norman Avery

Michael Norman Avery, 74, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa. He was born on September 23, 1948, in Alabama to the late Nolan Loyd and Bernice Nichols Avery.
He is survived by his wife - Palma Avery; children - Benjamin Loyd (Dana) Avery and Michael Nolan (Leah Phillips) Avery; grandchildren - Christian Avery, Drake Avery, Alexander Avery and Aiden Avery; sister - Sheila Ann Avery; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Ronnie Dale Pate

Mr. Ronnie Dale Pate, 70, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, after a battle with cancer.  
Mr. Pate was born on Sept. 17, 1952, in Winfield to Joseph and Mary Pate.  
He attended Winfield City High School and worked for the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company in Winfield for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, racing and doing mechanic work.
Mr. Pate is survived by his brothers - William Pate, Ricky Pate, Micheal (Theresa) Pate, Kenneth Pate and Allen Pate; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.  

Carrie Lou Gilbert

Mrs. Carrie Lou Gilbert, 84, of Winfield, passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, in the Fayette Medical Center. Mrs. Gilbert was born on July 30, 1938, in Fayette County to Denvier Elon and Velma Housh Trimm.
She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She was a 1956 graduate of Winfield City High School. She later attended Bevill State Community College where she earned her degree as a Laboratory Technician and was the owner of Gilbert Utilities Company where she spent many years.

Pattie Ann Whitehead Spann

Mrs. Pattie Ann Whitehead Spann, better known as Pat, 88, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022 in the Northwest Medical Center. Mrs. Spann was born in Fayette County, Ala., on August 17, 1934 to Garfield and Ava Jo Whitehead. Mrs. Spann was a member of the East Winfield Church of Christ and attended Hubbertville High School. She loved spending time with her family; she spent her life being a homemaker and a loving mother to her four children.  

Jennie V. Pollard

Ms. Jennie V. Pollard, 95, of Brilliant, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 at her residence.  Ms. Pollard was born on July 13, 1927 in Jefferson County, Ala., to Hubert Clayton and Nettie Mae Watkins Barrow.  She was a member of the Kingdom Faith Church and Brilliant Church of God.  Ms. Pollard loved spending time with her family, reading her Bible, talking to others about Jesus, listening to preaching, singing and writing songs, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, watching Andy Griffith, going to eat at Cracker Barrel and collecting and wearing hats and boggins.

Ralph Parmer, 89 of Florence, passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at the Generations of Vernon. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at West Alabama Memorial Gardens.

Ida Lou McCaleb

Mrs. Ida Lou McCaleb, 87, of the Whites Chapel Community, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. McCaleb was born on January 9, 1935 in Fayette County to Wiley and Estelle Dodd Whitehead. Ida Lou was a member of the Whites Chapel Church of Christ and attended Hubbertville High School. She spent much of her life employed as a seamstress and later owned the Singer Sewing Store in Jasper. In her spare time, Mrs. McCaleb loved to garden, can and freeze, working sudoku puzzles, babysitting her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Glenna Kay Lanthrip

Glenna Kay Lanthrip, 81, of Hamilton, Ala., passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at her residence.
Born January 8, 1941 in Stuttgart, Ark., she is the daughter of the late Glenn and Minnie Broadway Bice and the wife of the late Charles Ray Lanthrip.  She was a former resident of New Braunfels, Texas, and had lived in Hamilton, the past four years.  She was a retired real estate agent and loved working with stained glass.

Cynthia Denise Davis Holcomb

Cynthia Denise Davis Holcomb, 64, of Morris, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022. She was born May 20, 1958 to John R. Davis and Barbara Davis, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 18 years Herbert Wayne Holcomb; brother, Randel Davis; sister-in-law, Sue Davis; and niece, Apryl Davis, all of Morris.

Harold Craig Dodson Sr.

Harold Craig Dodson Sr., 84, of Guin, passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 at his residence.
Born April 6, 1938 in Fayette County, Ala., he is the son of the late Onyx and Herma Mosely Dodson.  He had lived in Marion and Fayette counties most of his life and was a battery salesman.
He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Lynn Gurganus (Ray) of Cordova; three sons, Roger Dodson (Jackie), Mark Dodson (Gaye), all of Haleyville, and Craig Dodson Jr. of Arley; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Betty Rawls

Mrs. Betty Sue Rawls, 83, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 08, 2022, at her residence.
She was born in Guin on May 04, 1939 to Wyman Tarwater and Adelue Nix Tarwater.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wyman and Adelue Tarwater; siblings, Milton Tarwater, Patsy Tarwater, Shelby Webster, Linda Tarwater Dorothy Zuber, Bevy Tarwater and Billy Joe Tarwater.

William Wade Perry

Mr. William Wade Perry, better known as Billy, 74, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, at the Princeton Baptist Hospital in Birmingham.  
Mr. Perry was born in Fayette County on Jan. 15, 1948, to Alton and Melba Aldridge Perry.

Norman Malcolm Kilgore Jr.

Norman Malcolm Kilgore Jr., 39, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, at the Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper.
He was born on March 11, 1983, to Malcolm and Louise Kilgore. He was a son, father, brother, cousin and friend. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his uncle and cousins. Despite a rough battle with cancer, he never lost his witty sense of humor and ability to make those around him laugh.

Dale Hollingsworth

Mr. Wilburn Dale Hollingsworth, better known as Dale, 73, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022 at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  He was born in Fayette County, Ala., May 17, 1949 to Wilburn Houston Hollingsworth and Bonnie Mae Hubbert Hollingsworth.   

Katrina Kay Franks

Ms. Katrina Kay Franks, 42, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, at the Fayette Medical Center.
She was born in Winfield on Dec. 3, 1979, to Venthal and Linda Ganey Franks. She loved spending time with family and friends at Windows Unlimited in Winfield and with the ARC program in Fayette.
She is survived by her aunt - Grace Franks of Guin; special cousins - Rhonda Franks Markham of Winfield, Renette (Malcom) Gilreath of Fayette, and Rick Franks of Hoover; and a host of other family members and friends.

Wesley Wayne Childers

Wesley Wayne Childers, 31, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at his residence.
He was born in Baton Rouge, La., on Saturday, July 13, 1991, to mother Carol Childers Humphres and father Troy Childers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother - Carol Childers Davis Humphres; dad - Perry Humphres; sister - LaDava Davis; brother - Evan (Cortney) Childers; step-sisters - Whitney (Jon) Carr, Kimberly (Michael) Bridges; uncle - Royce (Adrienne) Childers; aunt - Mona Odom; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marjorie Ann Wilson

Marjorie Ann Wilson, 83, of Guin, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at her residence.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1939, in Guin. She is the daughter of the late Charley Edward and Velma Jane Jackson Burleson and the wife of Bobby Joe Wilson. She lived in Guin most of her life and had retired from McGuire Drugs.  She was a member of the Guin Garden Club and the First Baptist Church Of Guin.

Olene Wiginton

Olene (Wood) Wiginton, 93, of Birmingham, passed away on Oct. 17, 2022.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1928, in Hamilton, and was raised in Hodges. She was a 1947 graduate of Hackleburg High School. She was a loving homemaker and a part-time florist. She was a past member of Hodges Church of Christ and attended Childersburg Church of Christ.

Lynn Dwight Wates

Lynn Dwight Wates, 76, of Guin, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at the Diversicare Nursing Home in Winfield.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1946, in Hamilton. He is the son of the late Walter Purvy and Ellie Gann Wates and the husband of Linda Jane Powless Wates. He had in Guin most of his life and retired from the 3M Company.  
He served in the US Army and was a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was also a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Guin.

J.H. Miller

J.H. "JayBird" Miller, 86, Hamilton, passed away on Oct. 31, 2022, at his residence.
He was born in Marion County on Oct. 19, 1936, to Herbert and Lurla Nix Miller.
He was a lifelong truck driver and mechanic. During his lifetime, he worked for Wade Rollins, W. T. Vick Lumber Company and Blue Harbor Logging.

Peggy Joan Trimm Harbin

Mrs. Peggy Joan Trimm Harbin, better known as Joan, 77, of Winfield, after a long battle with cancer and surrounded by her family, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at her daughter’s residence in Cottondale.
She was born in Fayette on Dec. 17, 1944, to Eual and Earah Floyd Trimm. Mrs. Harbin was a 1964 graduate of Winfield City High School, she later attended Bevill (Brewer) State College and earned her LPN degree. Mrs. Harbin was a member of the Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.  

Nancy Ann Barkley

Mrs. Nancy Ann Barkley, 77, of Kansas, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at her residence. Mrs. Barkley was born in Phillips County, Ark., on Dec. 4, 1944, to JB and Amelia Weimiller Clark.
Mrs. Barkley was a 1962 graduate of Barton High School in Barton, Ark., and later attended Memphis State University where she received a degree in computer science. Mrs. Barkley was a member of the Glen Allen Church of Christ and spent much of her life employed with the Dover Corporation. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, cross stitching and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Jeanette Louise Sprinkle Huguley, 63, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Huguley was born in Illinois on Sept. 25, 1959, to Vester and Myrtle Smith Sprinkle. She attended Pekin High School in Pekin, Ill., and spent much of her life taking care of her family. She enjoyed going to the mountains and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was born on July 5, 1974, in Killen, T.X. He is the son of Benny Joe and Jackie Flippo Tidwell. He lived in Guin most of his life and was a member of the Guin Church of Christ.

Melba June Palmer

Ms. Melba June Palmer, 88, of Brilliant, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at her residence.
Ms. Palmer was born in Brilliant on Aug. 4, 1934, to Lee and Ida Ingle Palmer. She was a member of the Haleyville Church of Christ and a 1952 graduate of Brilliant High School. Ms. Palmer spent much of her life working in the telecommunications field where she later retired after 27 years of service.

Elsie M. Overton

Elsie M. Overton, 79, of Hackleburg, passed away on Oct. 17, 2022, at her home.  
She was born on Dec. 18, 1942, in Phil Campbell.
She is survived by her children - Randall (Linda) Raper, Tracey (Karen) Raper, Dale (Courtney) Overton and Gail Overton (Danny) Holmes; two brothers; two sisters; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents - L.W. and Virgie Burfield; her husband - Max Overton; her four brothers; and her one sister.

Martha JoNell Hill

Ms. Martha JoNell Hill, better known as JoNell, 73, of Guin, passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at the Fayette Long Term Care Center.
Ms. Hill was born in Fayette County on June 6, 1949, to Russell and Inez Waldrop Sizemore. She was a member of the Landmark Church near Guin. Mrs. Hill worked in the textile industry in her early years of employment; she most recently was employed with Sunset Manor Nursing Facility in Guin as the activity director. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, flowering, and spending time with others, often being referred to as a social butterfly.
