Bobby Dooley
Mr. Bobby Dooley, 78, of Brilliant, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, at the Northwest Alabama Hospice Facility in Tuscaloosa. Bobby was born on Jan. 13, 1947, in Fayette, Ala., to Fred Dooley and Charlene Thomason Dunn.
He was a devoted member of Center United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served in many roles over the years, including chairman of the board, trustee, Sunday School superintendent and song leader. His love for the church and his willingness to serve were evident to all who knew him. A 1966 graduate of Phillips High School, Bobby was a standout athlete, playing baseball, basketball and football. He continued his love of sports into his college years, playing baseball and basketball, and was later honored with induction into the Marion County Hall of Fame. Much of Bobby’s working life was spent as a truck driver for several area companies. When not working, Bobby enjoyed watching Alabama football and other sports, going fishing, spending time with his family and most of all, being a servant of the church.
Mr. Dooley is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Dooley; his son, Wade Dooley, and his wife, Audrea; his granddaughter, McKenzie Dooley Eubanks, and her husband, Tyler; and his sister, Brenda Dooley Morgan.
Mr. Dooley was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Dooley and Charlene Dunn (Theron); his brother, Freddie Dooley; and his in-laws, F.L. and Elouise Cagle Jackson.
Funeral services for Mr. Dooley were held on Dec. 27, 2025, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.
