Raymond Lloyd Bruns

Raymond Lloyd Bruns, 90, of LaBelle, Mo., passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at Blessing Hospital. He was born at home in Carthage, Ill., on Jan. 14, 1936, to Vinda and Albert Bruns. He achieved a personal goal of reaching his 90th birthday, which made him the oldest living member of the Bruns family.
He was a member of the Bethel Christian Church at Bethel Missouri.
He was united in marriage to Rosalie Marie Agnew on March 2, 1956, in Carthage Ill. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in March. Together, they set a fine example for their five children to be honest, respectful, responsible, hard working adults.
He started working for Litteral Manufacturing at Quincy, Ill., in 1964. In 1989, the company moved to Hamilton, Ala., under the name of Speed Rack. He retired in 2001. After his retirement, he and Rosalie enjoyed traveling in Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Michigan and Canada to see various sites and attend music events. He and Rosalie lived in Hamilton for 35 years before moving back to Missouri.
He was known as Sonny since his childhood. Sonny spent time hunting deer, rabbits, raccoons and mushrooms with his sons. He and his sons set trout lines and fished the Fabius River, bringing home delicious fish for his family to enjoy. He was a skilled carpenter and built many Christmas decorations from his own made up designs in his head. Those decorations were proudly displayed annually in their yard. He enjoyed planting a garden and harvesting the vegetables for canning and freezing. In his later years, he would drive through the country roads, keeping an eye on crops from planting to harvest season. He liked to look for wildlife on his drives and observe cattle on local farms. While not driving in the country, he could be seen driving his golf cart around LaBelle, visiting people and keeping an eye on the town. He and Rosalie became daily customers of the Handlebar Coffee Shop getting their known regular order.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; daughters, Lori Wallace of LaBelle and Keela (Gary) Darnell of Lewistown; sons, Derek Bruns of Hamilton and Devin (Tina) Bruns of Hackleburg;, nine grandchildren, Chris Bruns, Nicole Turpin, Harlee Bruns, Joseph M.
