HAMILTON — During its Feb. 21 meeting, the Marion County Board of Education recognized school counselors in the system.
“We are thankful for our counselors and all they do for our students!” said MCBOE Superintendent Dr. Patrick Sutton.
The board also recognized Career and Technical Education Month and “the importance of these vital programs.”
Sutton noted February is proclaimed as CTE Month by the Association for Career and Technical Education.
“We appreciate all of those who are involved with CTE and the opportunities they give our students to succeed,” he noted.
Personnel matters
Only a few personnel matters were handled during the board meeting, and included volunteers being approved, one resignation for coaching duties and one job posting.
Approved for Hamilton High School were volunteers George Walker and Heather Choron. Approved for Hackleburg High School was Laken Brumley.
Regarding the resignation, Hackleburg High School Head Girls’ Basketball Coach Hope Sutherland is resigning her coaching duties effective June 1.
The job posting was for a maintenance worker for the Marion County School system.
