Randolph was born in 1938 and passed away last September. Randolph served six-and-a-half terms as a city councilman.
Aside from his service on the city council, the city’s resolution highlighted many of his other accomplishments and contributions.
“Whereas, the city of Guin, Alabama, seeks to acknowledge and honor the significant contributions made by Dr. Randolph to his community…” City Attorney Matt LeDuke read.

“Be it further resolved that mayor Segraves and the entire city council recognize with great admiration and appreciation the achievements and contributions of Dr. Gary Randolph and extend their condolences to his family and friends.”
“I would just like to say that I really appreciate the years that he served,” said Councilwoman Regina Salter. “He served a long time, and it takes a good leader to represent a city.”
“I was able to serve with him on a couple of terms, and I know he showed a lot of love for our community and wanted to do what was right for our community,” said Councilman Bobby Bellew. “I knew he had invested in housing in Guin, but I did not know he had invested in as many homes as he did. We need more Dr. Randolph’s in our area who are willing to invest in our area, so I highly appreciate the service he has given to the City of Guin.”
“I served with him probably one term, and he was very active and good for the city, and a great friend, also,” Councilman Mineo Lindsey said.
“I never served with him, but I appreciate everything he ever did for me for football and out in the community every time I talked to him at Jack’s in the morning time. I just really enjoyed and appreciated everything he ever did,” said Councilman Joseph Benton.
Dr. Randolph’s wife, Janice, was present to accept a memorial plaque.
In other business, the council voted to approve this year’s budget. The budget remains largely the same as the previous year’s budget, with the addition of election expenses.
