FLORENCE — The Hamilton Aggies’ season came to an end after the first round of the state playoffs on Friday night, Nov. 8, with a 70-13 loss to the Central Florence Wildcats.
The Wildcats scored four unanswered touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 28-0 lead, followed by another touchdown with about 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter.
But Hamilton’s Spencer Tyra took the kickoff and returned it 95-yards for the Aggies’ first touchdown of the night. With the extra point, they were trailing 35-7.
A few minutes later, Central scored again, going up to 42-7. With about three minutes to go before the half, they scored again, raising the score to 49-7 going into halftime.
Central scored early in the third quarter, going up to 56-7, and scored again about halfway through the quarter to increase their lead to 63-7.
Central scored their final touchdown with about a minute remaining, rounding out their score to 70 points to the Aggies’ 7.
With about four minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Aggies recovered a fumble and started first and 10 on Central’s 11-yard line.
The Aggies battled their way to the Wildcats’ 1-yard line, when Mason Holloway connected with Britton Wooten for a touchdown to put a few more points on the board for the Aggies at 70-13.
The loss brought an end to the Aggies’ season, giving them an overall record of 9-3, and a 4A Region 5 record of 5-2.
