Mildred Louise Smith

Mildred Louise Smith, 93, Guin, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Winfield. She was employed as a cook with Winfield Elementary School for many years, then retired as a seamstress from Munsingwear in Guin.
She was preceded in death by her parents - Fletcher Whitley and Earline Dodson Whitley; husband - Lee Roy Smith; sisters - Mary Ruth (Leman) England  and Ruby (Charles) Hill; brothers - Louis (Thelma) Whitley, Lloyd (Margaret) Whitley and Charles Whitley.  

Tremaine Stewart

Tremaine Stewart, 38, Winfield, passed away on Saturday Oct. 6, 2018, in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.
He was a 1999 graduate of Winfield City High School.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother - Lillie Archie.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at 1 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Pisgah Cemetery near Carbon Hill.  Devonta Doty and Jermaine Stewart officiated at the service.

Harry Marion Tomlin

Harry Marion Tomlin, 83, Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at his residence.   
Mr. Tomlin was a United States Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Marion Tomlin and Lillie Guthrie Tomlin.  
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at 7 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  James Wyers was the officiating minister.  

James Travis “J.T.” Benton

James Travis “J.T.” Benton, 96, Winfield, passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.  
He was born on March 19, 1922, in Fayette County, a son of James Travis Benton and Emma Roby Benton.  
Mr. Benton owned and operated his own truck for 50 years hauling coal and fertilizer. He was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church, where he served as an ordained deacon.  
He was a United States Army World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion.  
Mr. Benton loved his family and enjoyed working in his garden.  

John Phillip Heatherly

John Phillip Heatherly, 57, Fairview Heights, Ill., entered into rest on Oct. 6, 2018.
He was born on July 2, 1961, in Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Heatherly served in the United States Air Force for four years and the United States Army for two years. He was a 1979 graduate of Wauconda High School in Illinois and a 1990 graduate of Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.
He loved his family and friends very much. He also loved the outdoors, animals, and Alabama and Auburn football.

Shirley Hubbert

Shirley Hubbert, 61, Guin, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.
She was born on May 3, 1957, in Guin, the daughter of the late Millard and Ida Wilson Hubbert.  
Mrs. Hubbert had  lived in Guin most of her life. She was a 1975 graduate of Marion County High School in Guin and graduated from the University of North Alabama in Florence, with a major in english and journalism.  
She worked for the Alabama Department of Human Resources as a social worker.

Avery Faye Price

Avery Faye Price, infant daughter of Angie Box and Jacob Price, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at Children's Hospital in Birmingham.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather - Keith Brian Box; great-grandmother - Faye Neuheisel; great-great-grandparents - Janice Shirley, Victory and Christine Bryan and Claude and Gladys Box.  
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Old Brand Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Bradley Hosch officiated the service.  

Lavon Dow Snow

June 4, 1938 - October 4, 2018
Lavon Dow Snow, 80, Guin, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, in the Diversicare Healthcare Center in Winfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents -  Loranze Dow Snow and Icia Lela Paris Snow; and a brother - Kencil Eric Snow.
Survivors include his wife - Joyce Snow; son -  Leland (Anita) Snow; daughter - Shoshannah (Mitch) Stephens; grandchildren - Alicis Snow (Cory) Bozeman, Hannah Snow (Ethan) Reese, Landon Snow, Chace Stephens and Zane Stephens;  and a great-granddaughter - Emersyn Bozeman.

Wilma Faye Sweeney

Wilma Faye Sweeney, 85, Hackleburg, went home to join her Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, in Florence, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.
She was born on July 20, 1933, in Hackleburg, the daughter of Ben and Nancy Evans.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Mount Olive Cemetery.

James Richard Terry

James Richard Terry, 67, Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, in the Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham.  
Survivors include his wife - Brenda Smith Terry; and son - Justin Terry.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Orville and Mary Mae Terry.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, from the Kelly Cemetery in Eldridge.
Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield directed the services.
