Wyndal McCracken

Wyndal Wayne McCracken, 78, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Russellville on May 29, 1945, to his parents, Marvin and Leona Holland McCracken.
Wyndal served his country from 1968-1974 as field artillery crew chief and received a National Defense Service Medal Expert M-14. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He also cared for many families as an embalmer and funeral director before retiring.

Earl Norris

Mr. Earl Ray Norris, 91, of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, in the Sunset Manor Health Care facility in Guin. Mr. Norris was born in Fayette County on Feb. 28, 1932, to Johnnie and Earline Whitehead Norris. He was a member of Winfield United Methodist Church and a graduate of Winfield High School. After serving for two years in the U.S. Army in Italy, Earl returned to his favorite place in the world and married Frances Porter in 1954. Mr.

Patricia Taylor

Patricia Taylor, 83, of Guin passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023 at her residence.
Born December 20, 1939 in Guin, she is the daughter of the late James Richmond and Edgar Irene Wilson Pollard and the wife of Burgess LeJoe Taylor. She lived in the Pea Ridge Community most of her life where she was a member of the Free Water Free Will Baptist Church. She worked at and eventually retired from Southtrust Banking Company.

Jackie Turner

Jackie L. Turner, 59, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at the residence. He was born on July 8, 1964, in Guin to the late Vernon Turner and the late Annie C. Spearman Turner. After graduating high school, he attended Itawamba Community College in Fulton and graduated with an associate's degree in criminal justice. He was an avid football fan, especially University of Michigan and Auburn Tigers. Jackie also enjoyed being outdoors, going hunting and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a member of New Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church.

Kathy Alexander

Kathy Robertson Alexander age 73 of Guin, Ala. passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at her residence.
Born April 11, 1950 in Winfield, she was the daughter of the late Waldon Jesse and Dortha June Hollis Robertson and the Wife of Donald Alexander.  She lived in Guin most of her life, and served on the Guin City Council. She worked for Marion County Regional Hospital and Nursing Home in Hamilton as a Social Worker and followed by working with her husband at Alexander's Heating and Air Conditioning. She was a member of the Guin First Baptist Church.

Matt Graben

Thomas Matthew "Matt" Graben, 51, of Detroit, Ala., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.,  In honoring Matt's wishes, no funeral services will be held.  

Maxine Jeffreys

Maxine Jeffreys passed away on Nov. 10, 2023 at the age of 96.
Maxine was born on April 17, 1927. She was a long time resident of Guin, Alabama. She was an active member in her church, Free Water Free Will Baptist Church.  Her devotion to Christ was apparent in her interaction with all people. She was loved by all who knew her.

Sue Rudicell

Sue Carol Rudicell, 88, passed away on Sunday Nov. 12, 2023 at her home.
She is survived by daughter, Sheila Shotts (Don); son, Jeff (Cindy) Rudicell; grandchildren, Lesley Shotts, Samantha Shotts, Ethan (Callie) Rudicell, and Carman (Justin) Cunniff; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Lucy and Lawson Rudicell, Ayva Bentley, Scarlett, Jesse and Elliott Cunniff.
She was preceded in death by husband, Carmon Wayne (Bud) Rudicell; infant daughter, Tammy Rudicell; and step-son, Barry Rudicell.
A private family graveside was held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 at Rudicell Cemetery.

Faye L. Tyra, 85, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Northwest Medical Center. She was born in Hackleburg, Ala. on Monday, Oct. 17, 1938, to her parents, John and Nancy (Cook) Wooten.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Bill Tyra; sons, Stan Tyra (wife, Debbie) and Jeff Tyra; grandchildren, Wesley Tyra (Adrianna), Emily Brown (husband, Chris), Meagen Carter (husband, Ry), Zane Tyra (wife, Hannah); seven great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Wooten; sister, Peggy Pruden; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bobby Gene (Bob) Yerby, 86, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Alabama on Monday, March 15, 1937, to his parents, Alvin and Edith (Randolph) Yerby.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Nellie (Miller) Yerby; son, Terrence Yerby; daughter, Nellie Jane Short (husband, Robert); grandchildren, Daniel Short, Matthew Short, Adam Short, Sinjun Yerby and Kaileen Yerby; great-grandchildren, Zachary Short and Tyler Short; a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Brian Alexander

Mr. Brian Keith Alexander, 42, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023. Mr. Alexander was born on May 29, 1981 in Polk County, Florida to Karen June Alexander. Brian attended Montgomery County High School in Mount Vernon, Georgia. He spent much of his life as the owner and operator of Alexander Drywall.  In his spare time, Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, going to his children’s ballgames, watching Alabama and Georgia Bulldog Football and cooking. He loved to make people smile through food.

Maurice Lockhart

Maurice Lamalle “Doc” Lockhart, 88, of St. Cloud, Fla.  died peacefully on Nov. 6, 2023. Born and raised in Winfield, he played varsity football at Winfield High. He attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and then joined and served in the Navy for 21 years. Maurice later called Central Florida his home for over 40 years until his passing. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and boating, and always good times with his family and friends. He was a kind and generous man, who always made time for and cared for others.

Kenneth Smith

Kenneth “Caveman” Smith, born Dec. 17, 1956, went to his Heavenly Home on Nov. 5, 2023, at the age of 66.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Palmer Smith and Virginia Gorden, and two brothers, James and Jeff Graves.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Spoonmoore; sister, Brenda Harper; brother, Troy Graves; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
There will be no service held at this time.

Jerry Trimm

Mr. Jerry Max Trimm, 83, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023 in the Northwest Medical Center. Mr. Trimm was born in Fayette County, Ala. on Feb. 20, 1940 to William Aaron and Eva Mae Mobley Trimm. Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Winfield City High School. He spent much of his life employed with the Army Corp of Engineers, where he worked for more than 30 years until his retirement. Jerry traveled the world with his work, but never loved any location more than he did his home in Fayette County, where he spent most of his spare time farming and taking care of his land.

Regina Burgess

Mrs. Regina Ann Burgess, 72, of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 24,2023 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility. Mrs. Burgess was born on Oct. 27, 1950 to Earl and Kathryn McDonald Tidwell. Regina attended Hubbertville High School and later attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she earned her MBA. She was employed for many years with UAB Health Systems until her retirement. In her spare time, Regina enjoyed working in her flower beds and spending time with family, especially her grandson, ML.

Archie Ford

Mr. Archie Roosevelt Ford, 87, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Mr. Ford was born on Feb. 5, 1936 in Sullivan, Tenn. to Jacob and Elizabeth Minton Ford. Archie was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a 1956 graduate of Gloucester High School in Virginia. After high school, Archie joined the United States Air Force where he served his country for four years. After returning home, he began working for The Birmingham News where he was regional manager for more than 40 years.

Larry George

Larry E. “ Pink Panther” George, 67, of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Michigan on Thursday, Jan. 19, 1956 to his parents, Jack and Vivian (Brockway) George.

Catherine Grant

Ms. Catherine I. Grant, better known as “Kat”, 95, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Ms. Grant was born on July 11, 1928, to George and Alfa Cook Sullins. Kat was a member of the East Winfield Church of Christ. She was employed for many years with Dr. Mann as a dental assistant before her retirement. In her spare time, Cat enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, caring for family members, and shopping on Publisher’s Clearing House.

Charles Green

Charles Harry Green, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday Oct 24, 2023, at the age of 73. Harry was born on January 20, 1950, in Hamilton, AL. He graduated as Valedictorian from Hamilton High School, where he was student body president and played saxophone. He attended college at the University of Alabama and graduated with a degree in mathematics. He went on to Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and practiced law for 30 years in Hamilton, AL.

Larry Hawkins

Mr. Larry Wayne Hawkins, 73, of Guin passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023 in the Hospice of West Alabama Facility in Tuscaloosa. Larry was one of ten children born to Less and Meryle Berryhill Hawkins on Feb. 26, 1950 in Guin. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church and attended Guin High School. Larry spent much of his life as co-owner and operator of E&L Construction. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, deer hunting, riding horses and Harley Davidsons, and eating his daughter’s coconut poke cake.

Richard Jackson

Mr. Richard Perry Jackson, 84, of Winfield passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Jackson was born and raised in Martinsville, Ind. He was one of three children born to Joseph and Thelma Seeley Jackson. Richard was a faithful member and elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He attended school in Martinsville and later attended Weber State University in Utah where he earned a degree in Computer Technology. Richard served his country in the United States Army.

Joan Lawrence

Mrs. Joan Rae Lawrence, 80, of Winfield passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023 in the Diversicare Nursing Facility. Mrs. Lawrence was born on April 15, 1943 to Ray and Fleeta Frye Millican. She was a 1964 graduate of Hamilton High School. She spent many years employed with Munsingwear and Health-Tex Manufacturing before moving to B&B Quick Stop Deli where she worked until her retirement. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family.

Jerry Pollard

​Mr. Jerry Dale Pollard, 89, of Brilliant passed away on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Pollard was born on May 4, 1934 in Brilliant to Dale Vester and Ora Brasseal Pollard. Jerry was a graduate of Brilliant High School. After his graduation, Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served four years during the Korean conflict. Jerry spent several years as a coal miner after coming home from the service. He later became self employed as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic where he worked until his retirement.

Campranella Prowell

Campranella "Camp" Prowell, 57, of Winfield, AL, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023 at DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Camp was born on May 20, 1966 in Columbus, Miss. to the late Wright Webber, Sr. and the late Essie Mary Prowell.  He was a 1984 graduate of Lee High School in Columbus and later joined the U.S. Army proudly serving his country. Camp was previously employed at T&M Steel Co. in Columbus and 3M in Guin.  He thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing. He also liked to watch football and cook. Camp attended Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Deanna McDaniel

Deanna Susan McDaniel, 77, of Winfield passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023 in the Northwest Medical Center. Mrs. McDaniel was born in Marion County on March 27, 1946 to Middleton and Ruby Franks Maddox. She was a member of Hines Memorial Baptist Church of Bear Creek, and later Faith Church in Winfield. Deanna was a 1964 graduate of Brilliant High School. She was a member of the Bear Creek Civitan Club, where she worked diligently for many years. Deanna spent many years employed with Health Tex of Guin and later Harden Manufacturing before choosing to become a homemaker.

Louise Holcombe, 92, of Hamilton, passed away Oct. 10, 2023 at the Marion Regional Nursing Home. She was born July 2, 1931 in Marion County to the late Lee Other and Rozie Tice Harris.
Survivors include: son, Larry Holcombe (Pam); daughter, Janice Cantrell (Nicky); grandchildren, Brandon Cantrell (Denee), Jennifer McGuire (Daniel), Chris Holcombe (Isabelle); great-grandchildren, Ty Cantrell, Haley McGuire, Graham Holcombe; niece, Donna Swinney (Robby); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Judy Faye Hall

Mrs. Judy Faye Hall, 72, of the Hubbertville Community passed away on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Hall was born in Fayette County on November 25, 1950 to William Burton and Ruby Frances Dozier Smith. She was a member of the Hubbertville Church of Christ and a 1969 graduate of Hubbertville High School. After high school, she furthered her education at Brewer State Community College in Fayette. Judy spent much of her life as a home maker and as a bus driver for the Fayette County School System before her retirement.

Jewell Lawrence

Mrs. Jewell Dean McQuaig Lawrence, 87, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023 in the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Jewell was born on April 8, 1936 in Haleyville, Ala. to William and Vaudie Burleson McQuaig.
Mrs. Lawrence was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ and a 1955 graduate of Winfield City High School. Jewell was employed for over 20 years with Clifford Industry and was co-owner of Lawrence Funeral Home in Winfield for 30 years. She enjoyed working in her flowers and sewing.

Jimmy Lewis Stidham

Jimmy Lewis Stidham, 80, of Vina, Ala., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Alabama on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1943 to his parents, Homer and Estell (Oliver) Stidham.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughter, Rachel Stidham; son, Adam Stidham; grandchildren, Malik Fletcher, Malachi Fletcher, and Aleigha Stidham; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Chelane Denise Williams Earnhart, 46, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023. She was born on Nov. 23, 1976, to Aurdy Leon Williams and Brenda Faye Hollis Williams of Detroit, Ala. She attended Sulligent High School and was a member of Detroit Church of Christ. She worked with her husband as A team with OTR Truck Driving. Her hobbies included reading her bible and coming home to be with her family and friends in Alabama.

John Day Moore

John Day Moore, 84, passed this earthly existence on Oct. 10, 2023, at home in Winfield, surrounded by his wife, daughters, and son-in-law. He was born on April 21, 1939, in Oakman, Ala., the only beloved child to John (Slim) and Willie Pearl (Bill) Day Moore. He is survived by his wife, Frances Whitson Moore of Winfield; daughters, Cindy (Todd) Wakefield of Baton Rouge and Karen (Jeff) Marshall of Alabaster; grandchildren, Kamden and Jack Marshall and Jace Wakefield; and sister-in-law, Sarah Riley of Winfield.

Sue Berryhill

Mrs. Eleanor Sue Berryhill, 94, of Brilliant passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility. Mrs. Berryhill was born in Brilliant, Alabama on Dec. 13, 1928 to Fred and Mabra Dickinson Hudson. She was a 1946 graduate of Brilliant High School. In 1948 she and her family moved to Birmingham and became members at Sandusky Church of Christ where she remained until 1992. She then returned home to Brilliant, moving her membership to Brilliant Church of Christ, and served a term with the Brilliant Alumni Association.
