Maxine Stone

Maxine Stone passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, at the age of 99. She was born on July 28, 1927, and lived a long life that will be remembered with love by those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Hales; her grandchildren, Jesse Handley and David Handley; her great-granddaughters, Emilee Handley and Lilah Handley; and her sister, Mert Barnes. They carry forward her memory with affection and gratitude, and will hold close the many moments they shared with her through the years.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Fray Stone; daughters, Janice Stone and Kathy Bowers; parents, Claborn and Cora Lee Abbott; four brothers; and four sisters. Their memory remained an important part of her life and family story.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 24, 2026, at Nichols Marion County Funeral Home.
Maxine Stone will be remembered with love and respect, and her memory will continue to live on in her family.
