HAMILTON —After a passerby noticed smoke coming from Watha’s Inc. in the early hours of Monday, Nov. 2, the Hamilton Fire Department was alerted and able to quickly respond and extinguish a blaze which started in a back bay area and spread to the ceiling.
Owner Watha Williams explained, “We think a fire started from lithium batteries back there on the wash rack where we plug them up for recharging. That’s all we can figure out. The fire chief said that’s where the fire started, and then it went up the wall and got into the ceiling. They got down here quick enough to save the building.”
