Ernest Ray Cain

Ernest Ray Cain, 89, of Guin, Ala., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin. He was born on Dec. 7, 1936, in the Henson Springs community to Oscar Pinkney Cain and Sarah Elizabeth Cain.
Ray was a graduate of Marion County High School, Class of 1955. He retired from 3M Company in Guin, after 42 years of dedicated service. Ray was a devoted husband of 68 years, a hands‑on father and a man whose quiet strength shaped every part of his life. In addition to his time at 3M, he served faithfully as a deacon at Guin First Baptist Church for more than four decades. Ray was known for his wisdom, humor and gentle way of leading by example. A soft‑spoken storyteller with a quick wit, he loved reading, traveling, Auburn football and finding creative ways to fix just about anything. He invested deeply in people—his time, his energy, his guidance and his heart. He showed up for every moment, encouraged his children through every milestone and cared for his bride with unwavering devotion. His kindness, his stories and the steady way he lived out his faith will remain a lasting legacy. He made the years in between count, living fully, loving deeply and serving well.
Ray is survived by his son, Phillip (Stephanie) Cain of Hamilton; daughter, Tina (Maurice) Galloway of Gonzales, La.; grandchildren, Lauren (Josh) Griffin of Covington, La., Jordan (Maeleigh) Cantrell of Covington, Logan (Jamie) Cain of Henderson, Tenn. and Jessica Galloway of Gonzales; his great-grandchildren, Tyler Cain, Abbie Cain and Mack Griffin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Cain; his parents; his brothers, John D. Cain and Pete Cain; his sisters, Beatrice Cain, Christenia Cain, Betty Revere and Erleen Pugh.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 27, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Guin with burial in the Rudicell Cemetery in Detroit, Ala. Bro. Zane Miles officiated.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sunset Manor and to Amedisys for the love shown to their father during his time there.
