HAMILTON — Jonathan Fay of Denver, N.C., just outside of Charlotte, was traveling with his son to Ole Miss on I-22 when catastrophe struck on Friday, Aug. 14.
The front right tire on Fay’s Audi blew, fortunately while he was near the exit for the Hamilton Love’s Travel Stop. Fay pulled in and got out to change the tire, but that’s when he realized his situation was more dire than he first realized.
“We pulled into the Love’s gas station, got out and started to take everything out of the car,” he said. “As you can imagine, it was a lot of stuff, so it was pretty noticeable that we were in some kind of trouble.
