Lee McGuire

Lee McGuire

Lee Andrew Carroll McGuire departed this life on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones after a year long battle with cancer. Lee was born to Katie Lee McGuire and Price Hubbard on Feb. 23, 1957, in Franklin County, Ala. He was reared in the home of his mother and her parents (Robert Lee and Mary Ludie McGuire) along with his maternal siblings Randy and Mary Ray.
He was often protective of his younger siblings (and annoyed by them) as they were born during his mother’s marriage to Richard Ray. After all of these years, he still would state, sometimes with laughter, that he did not appreciate the loss of his status as the only child with Randy’s and then Mary’s birth.
Lee attended school in the Franklin County School System (Rocky Glenn) and the Russellville City School System. Lee enjoyed working jobs that allowed him to “tinker, fix, repair” machinery and anything with a motor or moving parts. He was employed at Gateway Homes for 20 years, Southridge/Greenwood Homes for eight years, Winfield Tool and Equipment for 15 years and Clayton Supply for five years, where he remained until his heath failed. Lee, being a shy person, found great pleasure in fishing and other solitary activities that provided solitude.
Lee originally moved to Marion County for employment opportunities but soon met the love of his life, Arzealer Madison, whom he married. He was welcomed into her family, and together, they made a home. Their 45th wedding anniversary would have been Aug. 29, 2025. This union produced Lee’s pride and joy, a baby boy, Lee Jovan McGuire, and later grandchildren, Dayson (“tractor buddy”) and Makenna McGuire, who were his “babies.”
Lee is survived by his wife, Arzealer McGuire; son, Jovan McGuire (Breanna); grandson, Dayson McGuire; granddaughter, MaKenna McGuire; great-nephew, Kylin; great-niece, Jaylin of Guin; brother, Randy Ray (Sheila); sister, Mary Hamilton (Bobby); aunt, Hattie McGuire (Andrew-deceased) of Russellville; sister-in-law, Terri Lipsey (James-deceased); and brothers-in-law, Jeffery Madison (Angelean-deceased), Willie Madison and Lomax Swanigan (Michelle-deceased) of Guin. Lee is also survived by his paternal siblings whom he met as an adult and who enriched his life greatly. His sisters are Janet Lewis of Detroit, Mich., Blake Edwards of Raleigh, N.C. and Priscilla Hubbard. His brothers are Price Hubbard Jr., Reggie Hubbard, Kevin Hubbard, Michael Hubbard and Chris Hubbard of Houston, Texas. Lee will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lee is predeceased by his cherished grandparents; stepfather; father; mother; mother-in-law, Annice Madison; brother, Anthony Hubbard; and uncle, Carroll McGuire (Lucille).
Funeral services were held on Aug. 6, 2025, at the Veal Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
