Hamilton driver’s license office closed temporarily

HAMILTON — Damage was recently done to the front doors of the driver’s license office at the Hamilton Post of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency,  located at 4521 Military Street South. The trooper post was not damaged.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, is still under investigation, and no further information is available through official channels at this time.
ALEA Senior Trooper Gregory Corble told the Journal-Record on Jan. 30 officials at the office say they “hope to be up and operating again in several weeks.”
He noted there are signs on the door directing the public to other offices and hours of operation.

• Wednesdays - (Winston County) Double Springs Municipal Building; 205-489-1141; 23415 Highway 195, Double Springs, AL 35553; and
• Thursdays - (Lamar County) Lamar County Jail in Vernon; 205-695-7105, 1118 County Road 9, Vernon, AL 35592.

Documentation required
Be advised to have all necessary documents with you when you visit these offices, such as birth certificates, social security cards, proofs of residency, school enrollment forms, secondary forms of photo identification, etc., plus funds for tests and license fees. No checks are accepted.
Depending on the license needed, such as driver, learner, CDL, vessel, etc.,  there are different forms of documents required. Visit alea.gov for more information and a complete list of required documents according to the specific license needed.
