Pirates dominate Hanceville 57-6 to clinch region championship

WINFIELD — The Winfield Pirates dominated the Hanceville Bulldogs with a score of 57-6 on Friday, Oct. 18, during homecoming at Estes Hudson Stadium.
Winfield demonstrated a powerful rushing attack and effective passing, scoring on all but one of their possessions. Their defense limited the Bulldogs to only 57 total yards and allowed a late touchdown, which was Hanceville’s only score of the game.
Despite a fumble on their first possession, the Pirates scored on all their other drives, quickly building a 57-0 lead. After shutting down the Bulldogs and forcing a punt, Winfield’s Blaine Bowen caught the punt at the Winfield 36-yard line and sprinted 64 yards for a touchdown.
