HAMILTON — The Marion County Extension Office partnered with Northwest RC&D, USDA, NRCS and Live Well Alabama to develop the Marion County Ag Expo.
The event took place on Friday, Jan. 20, at the Bevill State Community Center in Hamilton.

Fresh fruits and vegetables for seniors

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a federally funded program administered by the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries, Farmers Market Authority Section.
The SFMNP provides eligible seniors with $30 in vouchers to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from certified farmers at farmers markets and farm stands in the state of Alabama.  
Food benefits are available on a first come, first serve basis until available funds are committed. Don’t delay, complete an application today!

 

Invasive species workshop on May 18

The Marion County Extension Office will be hosting an Invasive Species Workshop on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the Hamilton Parks & Rec. Building to provided training for landowners, loggers and foresters.
This workshop will take place both indoors and outside. Attendees will learn about worker protection standards, herbicide labels, application methods, invasive plant identification and their control options. After the inside portion, we will transition outside for demonstrations on calibrating sprayers, hack-and-squirt and basal bark application techniques.

Free county extension parenting classes begin Feb. 6

HAMILTON - The Marion County Extension Office will be hosting free parenting classes in Hamilton during the month of February.
“Principles of Parenting” classes will begin Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Marion County Extension Office located in the Courthouse Annex, at 372 7th Avenue Southwest in Hamilton, across from the E.T. Sims Neighbor Facilities Building.
The classes will be held on Tuesdays during the month of February from 9 - 11 a.m.

 

Extension office to hold free parenting classes

HAMILTON -  The Marion County Extension Office will be holding parenting classes once every week throughout the month of April.
The classes will be held on Tuesdays, April 9, 16, 23 and 30, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

These classes will set out to teach parents and guardians how to create a healthy environment and relationship for the children under their care.
