Hamilton ordinance amended to cover home bakers; licenses, fees will cost $35

HAMILTON — During its Tuesday, Feb. 17, meeting, the Hamilton City Council voted to add several items to its agenda, including a recommendation to amend Ordinance 2012-14 to add an addition to cover Home Bakers under the Cottage Law License.
“We will amend two sections of the ordinance,” Hamilton Mayor Tami Lewis Williams said. “To Section 22, entitled, ‘License Classification,’ we will add 311811 Retail Bakeries. And  to Section 23, entitled, ‘License Fee Schedules,’ we will add 311811 Retail Bakeries with a license fee of $25.”

HAMILTON — The Hamilton City Council meeting on Monday, July 7, began immediately after two public hearings were held on three separate zoning change considerations.
During the public hearings, those in attendance were invited to speak either for or against the rezoning requests.
The first hearing regarded the rezoning of a 5.22 acre property located on Highway 278 East at 2172 Bexar Avenue East, from an R2 (Multi Family District) to a B1 (General Business District).

Lawmakers secure $3 million for Marion County Lake


Like having patience with fishing pays off, officials are asking the public to have patience for upgrades to be made to the Marion County Lake that will greatly increase the useability, enjoyableness and longevity of the natural attraction.
HAMILTON — The Marion County Lake will soon be the site of more than $3 million in structural improvements after more than two years of negotiations directed by Rep. Tracy Estes (R-Winfield) and Sen. Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman).

Hamilton approves $600K for water backup

HAMILTON — The City of Hamilton will put up $309,813 to match a $309,812 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to fund alternate water supplies. The total investment is $619,625, with the matching funds coming from the city’s American Rescue Plan/COVID monies.
