Margie R. Mays

Margie R. Mays, 86, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at NMMC- Hamilton. She was born in Alabama on Feb. 21, 1939, to Leonard Nixon and Eva Dell Yielding Nixon.
She leaves to cherish her memories, children, Darrell Mays and Rita King (husband, Ricky); grandchildren, Ryan King (wife, Carrie), Garrison Mays and Reegan King; great-grandchildren, Ruby King, Millie King and Hattie King; sister, Eva Carol Sartain; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Mays; parents, Leonard and Eva Dell Nixon; granddaughters, Rayanna and Raina King; siblings, Hayward (Virginia) Nixon, Joel (Doris) Nixon, Norma Lou (Roy) Brooks, Gennetta Cayson and Jettie Jewel; and four infant brothers and sister.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 24, 2026, at Marion County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ryan Gallagher officiating. Burial followed at Hamilton Memory Gardens.
