Aggies, Raiders win sectional meets


Marion County’s Lily Robinson, Anna Prather and Zella Williams, along with Phillips’ Lexi Morgan and Hackleburg’s Maddie Burt, hit the back stretch during the section meet.

WINFIELD — Winfield hosted the sectional track meet for 1A Section 3, 2A Section 4 and 3A Section 4 on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27.
At the same time, the Hamilton Aggies were competing in the 4A Section 3 meet at Hewitt-Trussville.
Marion County’s boys and girls won their meets with 164.5 and 208 points respectively. The Winfield Lady Pirates placed second in the 3A girls’ meet with 100 points, behind Fayette with 191 points.
The Pirates placed third with 103 points behind first-place Madison Academy with 193 points and second-place Fayette with 154 points.
Hamilton’s girls won with 155 points, just above Fultondale with 152 points. Hamilton’s boys won with 140 points, well above Bibb County in second place with 85 points.
Marion County teams had several athletes finish in the top 3 in their events.
The official meet results posted on al.milesplit.com appear to be incomplete or formatted incorrectly. The Journal Record apologizes if anyone is left off, or results are inaccurate, as a result.

Hackleburg’s Davin Dulaney finished in third place in the boys’ 400-meter dash in 57.14 seconds.
Dulaney also won the boys’ 200m dash in 24.18 seconds, followed by Brilliant’s Jaeden Lipsey in second place in 24.75 seconds.
Marion County’s Alecia Shack placed third in the girls’ 200m in 29.14 seconds.
Brilliant’s Carson Lawrence placed second in the boys’ 100-meter dash in 12.17 seconds. Marion County’s Ace Tankersly placed third in 12.21 seconds.
Marion County’s Carter Stephens won the boys’ 1600-meter run in 5:08.20, and fellow Red Raider Reagan LeDuke placed third in 5:21.73.
Marion County’s Tye Madison won boys’ high jump by clearing a mark of 6’4”. Brilliant’s Carson Lawrence placed second, clearing 5’10”. Marion County’s Ace Tankersly placed third with a mark of 5’8”.
Marion County’s Wyatt Franks placed third in boys’ triple jump with a mark of 33’8”.
Marion County’s Tye Madison, Jose Luis and Wyatt Franks swept the podium in boys’ pole vault.
Hackleburg’s Luke Herring won boys’ discus and shot put. Phillips’ Brayden Jordan placed third in shot put.
Marion County’s Sam Williams placed third in boys’ discus.
Marion County’s Madison Lipsey placed second in the girls’ 100m in 13.22 seconds.
Marion County’s Zella Williams placed second in the girls’ 400m with a time of 1:07.34.
Marion County’s Carter Stephens won the boys’ 800m in 2:15.51. Another Raider, Reagan LeDuke, finished in third in 2:20.98.
Marion County’s Bekah Junkin placed second in the girls’ 800m in 2:44.98.
Stephens and LeDuke made another first and third finish in the boys’ 3200m in 10:46.79 and 11:52.88.
Marion County’s Zoe Lucas and Claire LeDuke finished in second and third in the girls’ 3200m in 13:56.14 and 13:59.56.
Marion County’s Alexis Webb and Zoe Lucas placed second and third in the 1600-meter run with times of 6:25.13 and 6:27.24 respectively.
Marion County’s girls won the 4x800-meter relay in 11:45.02. They also won the 4x100m and 4x400m.
Brilliant’s girls placed third in the 4x100m relay. Hackleburg’s girls placed second in the 4x400m.
Marion County’s Lily Robinson won girls’ high jump with a mark of 4’10”. Brilliant’s Hadlee Sanderson placed third with 4’6”.
Marion County’s Madison Lipsey and Anna Prather won first and second in girls’ long jump with marks of 14’11.5” and 14’9.5”.
Marion County’s Caroline Pyron and Lilly Franks won first and second in girls’ pole vault with marks of 8’3” and 7’6”.
Phillips’ Natalee Ward placed second in girls’ discus, and Marion County’s Krissa Comer placed third. Ward also won girls’ shot put and javelin.
Brilliant’s Karagan Stanford placed third in girls’ javelin.
Brilliant’s Jerry Lothrop won boys’ javelin, and Hackleburg’s Payton Scott placed third.
Marion County’s Wyatt Franks placed third in boys’ triple jump.
Hackleburg’s Jaquan Reeder won boys’ long jump, and Marion County’s Tye Madison placed second.
Marion County’s boys placed third in the 4x100m relay.
Hackleburg’s boys won the 4x400m relay, followed by Marion County in second and Phillips in third.
Marion County’s boys also won the 4x800m relay.

Winfield’s Jarett Hosch placed third in the boys’ 400 with a time of 52.21 seconds.
Winfield’s boys placed third in the boys’ 4x800-meter relay in 9:25.16.
Winfield’s Alex Aldridge won boys’ pole vault with a mark of 11’6”, followed by fellow Pirate Dylan Benton with a mark of 11’.
Winfield’s Declyn Morgan placed second in boys’ javelin with a distance of 169’.
Winfield’s Audrey Spillers placed third in the girls’ 1600-meter run with a time of 6:24.89.
Winfield’s Audrey Spillers and Audrey Patton placed second and third in the girls’ 3200m race.
Winfield’s MaKayla May won girls’ shot put with a total mark of 30’9.75”. Fellow Lady Pirate Tori Rainey placed third with 29’9.25”.
Hosch placed second in boys’ long jump.
Winfield’s Lexie May placed second in girls’ discus.
Winfield’s boys placed third in the 4x800m and 4x100m relays.
Winfield’s girls placed second in the 4x400m relay, and the boys placed third. ­

4A
Hamilton’s Dylan Segraves placed second in the boys’ 100 in 10.75 seconds. He also won the boys’ 200 in 22.54 seconds.
Hamilton’s Joshua Webb placed third in the boys’ 800 in 2:05.43. Webb also placed third in the 1600 in 4:37.52.
Webb ran in the 3200-meter run as well, placing third in 9:52.05.
Hamilton’s Elijah Dollar won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.14 seconds. Fellow Aggie Hayden Ables placed third in 16.62 seconds.
Ables and Dollar placed first and second in the 300-meter hurdles in 40.35 and 41.53 seconds, respectively.
Hamilton’s boys placed second in the 4x100 relay in 43.63 seconds and won the 4x400 in 3:33.03.
The Aggies also placed second in the 4x800, finishing in 8:39.63.
Hamilton’s Christian Shipp won boys’ high jump with a mark of 6’.
Jake Webb, Elijah Robinson and Ian Cole swept the podium in boys’ pole vault for the Aggies, clearing 14’7”, 13’ and 12’, respectively.
In the 4A girls’ meet, Hamilton’s Maya Jones placed second in 5:37.24. Jones also placed second in the girls’ 3200 in 12:25.07.
Hamilton’s Meg Wiginton won the 4A girls’ 100-meter hurdles in 15.94 seconds. Wiginton also won the girls’ 300-meter hurdles in 46.06 seconds.
Hamilton’s Kyra Casey placed third in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.52 seconds.
The Lady Aggies placed second in both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays but won the 4x800 in 10:57.45.
Hamilton’s’ Jordan Parker won girls’ high jump with a distance of 4’8”, and Kyra Casey won long jump with a mark of 15’7.75”.
Casey also won girls’ triple jump with a total mark of 35’0.25”.
Taylor Biggerstaff won girls’ pole vault for Hamilton with a mark of 7’.
Hamilton’s Myia Sizemore, Bella Gilstrap and Jordan Parker swept the podium in girls’ javelin with marks of 105’3”, 98’9” and 90’10”.
Hamilton’s Ella Rose Bartlett placed third in girls’ shot put with a total mark of 29’10”.
This past weekend, track and field teams competed in the state track meet. Marion County’s girls and Hamilton’s boys both won their meets.
