Tigers handed heavy defeat by Tornadoes

REFORM — The Brilliant Tigers lost on the road against the Pickens County Tornadoes on Friday, Oct. 1. The game marked their third scoreless loss in a row.
The Tornadoes scored four times in the first quarter. Their first score was a 13-yard touchdown run, but the kick was no good. A later eight-yard run ended in another touchdown plus two more points.
A 17-yard pass and a 22-yard pass also ended in touchdowns, and both kicks were good. Pickens County was in the lead 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Tornadoes scored on a one-yard run and a 16-yard run, but neither kick made it in for extra points.
Later in the second quarter, the Tigers fumbled the ball close to the end zone, which the Tornadoes recovered and returned 95 yards for another touchdown. The kick was good, and the Tornadoes were now ahead 47-0.
Pickens County was also able to return a punt 84 yards to score one final touchdown before the half to go up 53-0. It was the last time they scored. The Tigers were unable to respond before the clock ran down and the game was over.
The Tigers play at home on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m., and will take on the Hubbertville Lions.
