Tigers win homecoming game 45-6 Friday night

BRILLIANT — The Brilliant High School Tigers won their homecoming game 45-6 against the visiting Sumiton Christian Eagles on Friday night, Sept. 22. The game opened with the Tigers receiving the kickoff and returned it to about their own 45-yard line. After an incomplete pass on first down, Quarterback Brooks McLemore kept the ball and made it to the opposing 45 for the first down. The Tigers kept up the pressure and made it to the Eagles’ 30-yard line. Two runs from Zay Blackburn put the Tigers in good position to score at the 2-yard line, and Blackburn got the touchdown on the next play.

BRILLIANT — Brilliant’s football streak continues with their eighth loss this season. On Friday, Oct. 14, the Brilliant Tigers lost against the Tuscaloosa based Holy Spirit Catholic High School 56-0.
Brilliant received the kickoff and managed to take it 65 yards, before punting. On first down, Terry Collins was able to take it in for a touchdown. Holy Spirit’s PAT was good, lighting the scoreboard 7-0, HS.

Brilliant Tigers fall to Lynn Bears 45-6

BRILLIANT — The Brilliant Tigers lost 45-6 at home to the visiting Lynn Bears on Friday night, Oct. 7.
The Bears quickly gained the lead, scoring two touchdowns in the opening minutes of the game.
The Tigers tried to retaliate, but a fumble put the Bears back in control. The Bears seized the opportunity and scored again, leading 21-0 with just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Tigers fall prey to Hubbertville Lions

HUBBERTVILLE —  The Brilliant Tigers lost to the Hubbertville Lions 42-8 on Friday, Sept. 30, but managed to break their scoreless streak.
The Lions scored 36 points in the first three quarters, before the Lions managed to score a touchdown and 2 point conversion on a 23 yard run in the fourth quarter.
The loss puts the Tigers’ record at 0-6 for the season and 0-4 in their region.
This Friday, the Tigers will play the Lynn Bears at home at 7 p.m.

Marion County shuts out Brilliant 62-0

BRILLIANT — The Marion County Red Raiders shut down the Brilliant Tigers 62-0 on Thursday night, Sept. 1.
The Tigers kicked off, and within the opening 25 seconds of the game, the Raiders were ahead 6-0 with a touchdown run by Cade Atkins and a blocked extra point kick.

Defensive struggles continue for Tigers

REFORM — The Brilliant Tigers struggled to gain defensive shape this past Friday as they lost to Pickens County by a large margin.
The Pickens County Tornadoes won the game 52-0 against the Tigers on the night.
Brilliant’s main problem defensively was stopping the Tornadoes from rushing past their defenses.
The opposition scored five rushing touchdowns, running 197 yards total in the game.
Three of the touchdowns came from Pickens County senior Elijah Merriweather.

Tigers thrashed in opening game

WATERLOO — The Brilliant Tigers will want to move on as quickly as possible after Friday night’s 53-8 defeat against the Waterloo Cougars in Waterloo.
Waterloo started the scoring in the first quarter, scoring three touchdowns.
The Cougars scored from a field goal attempt in the second quarter, making their lead 21-0 at the end of the first half of play.
