WINFIELD - The Winfield City Council voted at its Tuesday, May 21, meeting to rezone the property where the Pirates Den restaurant is located from a residential classification to a business classification. The restaurant is located in an area zoned as a residential district.
“It comes to us from the zoning board that Pirates Den, located at 350 Thorndale Road and owned by Keela Weeks, is in an R1 single family residential district,” Winfield Mayor Randy Price said to open the discussion. “That makes you wonder how a business ever got there in the first place,” the mayor said.
Winfield City Clerk Angie Oliver said it’s not uncommon for businesses to be located in residential districts.
