‘Swamp Fox Festival & Quilt Show’ set for Nov. 14 at Hamilton-Sullins House

HAMILTON — Marion County Historical Society President Mike Williams invites everyone to attend the inaugural “Swamp Fox Festival & Quilt Show” to be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. at the Hamilton-Sullins House in Hamilton.
“This is our first festival,” he said. “We hope to make this a recurring event in coming years.”
Williams also noted historical society vice president Sharon Brown and treasurer Regina Wisecarver both put a lot of effort into organizing the festival and quilt show.
“Here is something to do in Hamilton!” Brown noted. “This is a festival for everyone. People will be able to go back in time and see how Alabamians lived long ago.
“Bring your kids, your grandkids and your neighbor’s kids to see how people used to do things in Alabama. It’s going to be fun. Everyone is invited out to just make a day of it over at the Hamilton-Sullins House.”
“We’re hoping for good weather and a good crowd,” added Sharon Dickinson, board member and a former officer for two decades who has wanted to have a “Swamp Fox” festival for 20 years. She explained the festival is named after the county’s namesake, and she also shared a couple of other historical tidbits.
