Mrs. Sharon Paige McDonald Herren, 80 of Richmond, Ky., formerly of the Whites Chapel Community, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1942, in Carbon Hill to the late Bernice Jane Baker and Hollie McDonald. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a 1961 graduate of Hubbertville High School. Mrs. Herren was a homemaker who enjoyed golf, quilting and cooking, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Claudie Randolph Phillips

Mr. Claudie Randolph Phillips, better known as Randy, 73, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
He was born on June 28, 1949, in Royston, Ga., to Thomas and Ruby Pullian Phillips. Mr. Phillips served his country in the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. He was employed with Continental Conveyor before retiring after 34 years of service. In his spare time, he loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Mrs. Freda Mae “Dede” Wallace, 80, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at her residence.
Mrs. Wallace was born in Marion County on Dec. 5, 1942, to Neal and Willie Mae Warren Williams.
Mrs. Wallace was a member of the Union Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and spent most of her life as a homemaker. Dede enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family.

Ruth M. Lee

Mrs. Ruth M. Lee, 100, formerly of Winfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at her residence in Grayson, Ga.
Mrs. Lee was born in Cookeville, Putman County, Tenn., on Aug. 16, 1922, to James B. and Ova S. Mills.  
Mrs. Lee was the oldest living member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Winfield. She lived a life full of grace, which was strengthened by her faith in God. She remained a member of Harmony Grove even after moving to Georgia to live with her daughters. She loved her church family and was devoted to the members there.

Norma Jean Couch Moore

Norma Jean Couch Moore, 98, of Fayette, passed away on Jan. 29, 2023, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Mrs. Moore was born in Wayne, Okla. on Sept. 21, 1924, and moved to Alabama as a young child. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and worked with the youth as well as many other aspects of the church. She was an artist who painted beautiful pictures. She did China painting and used her kiln to make Christmas gifts and other treasured items. She was a master cook, gardener, quilter and seamstress.  

Clinton Eugene Webster

Mr. Clinton Eugene Webster, Sr., 90, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility.
Mr. Webster was born on May 11, 1932, in Winfield to Samuel Lee and Biba Pate Webster. He was a 1952 graduate of Hubbertville High School. He was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and the Winfield Masonic Lodge # 304.  

Mildred Hightower Webb

Mildred Hightower Webb, 93, of Birmingham, formerly of Guin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at the Fair Haven Methodist Nursing Home in Birmingham.
She was born on March 4, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Jelks and Grace Hightower of Guin. She was married to the late Hermon Webb of Sulligent. She was preceded in death by her two brothers and their spouses. Gilbert and Dot Hightower of Birmingham, and Troy and Emma Hightower of Guin.

Glenn Lincoln Taylor

Mr. Glenn Lincoln Taylor, 82, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at the Diversicare Nursing Facility.
Mr. Taylor was born on Feb. 12, 1940, to Romie and Doris Flynn Taylor. He was of the Baptist faith and spent much of his life employed as a security guard for Reltoc Manufacturing and Blackhawk Industries in Winfield.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his son - Ken Taylor of Winfield; special friend and caregiver - Shelia (Stevie) Gann of Winfield; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.

Cerell Metcalfe, a man of dedication, love, honor, and laughter, was born on May 27, 1944.
He was the son of the late Ned and Portras Metcalfe. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Cedar Grove CME Church in Sulligent where he served as a stuart of his church for many years. He also served as an associate member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Kennedy.

John Billy "Bill" Franks, 90, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at his daughter’s residence.
He was born on March 30, 1932, in Lamar County. He is the son of the late Woods Henry and Earlie Virginia Miller Franks and the husband of Janice Perry Franks.
He lived in Guin most of his life, retired from NTN Bower, was a Veteran having served in the US Army, and was a member of the Guin Church Of Christ.  He loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mrs. Willodean Evans Cagle, 93, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility in Guin.  
Mrs. Cagle was born on July 19, 1929, in Marion County to William Rufus and Eunie Bishop Evans.  
Mrs. Cagle was a lifelong resident of Marion County in the Pea Ridge, Hamilton and Guin areas.  Mrs. Cagle was a member of the Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church. She loved being outdoors, gardening, and visiting with her family and friends.

Betty Earnest Trull

Ms. Betty “June” Earnest Trull, 87, of Daphne, formerly of Winfield, entered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at the Robertsdale Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Robertsdale.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1935, in Fayette County, to Fred Dalton Earnest and Melia McMillian Earnest. She was a 1953 graduate of Winfield City High School. He was a homemaker as well as bookkeeper for Trull Building Supply. She was a long-term dedicated member of Winfield First Baptist Church and taught three-year-old Sunday school children for many years.

Richard Earl Moore

Mr. Richard Earl Moore, 91, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023.
Mr. Moore was born in Winfield on Jan. 8, 1932, to Vandiver Clarence and Margaret Ellen Weeks Moore.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Winfield Freewill Baptist Church and a graduate of Winfield City High School where he played football in the early 1950’s.

He was born in Hamilton on Oct. 2, 1932, to James Miller and Flora Sanderson Miller.

Thermon H. McDonald

Thermon H. McDonald, 94, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1928, in the Wayside Community. He is the son of the late Leonard Curtis and Ellena Blankey McDonald and the husband of the late Betty Atkins McDonald.  
He lived in the Wayside Community, Guin and Winfield most of his life and retired from 3M Company. He was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church.

Janie Elizabeth Tyra

Mrs. Janie Elizabeth Tyra, 83, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023.
Mrs. Tyra was born on Jan. 4, 1940, to Luke and Millie Nails Rozelle. She was a member of Piney Grove Church of Christ.
Mrs. Tyra was a graduate of Guin Colored School and later attended Hamilton Technical School earning her LPN Certification. Mrs. Tyra spent much of her life employed as a nurse; she worked with Dr. Aubrey Sewell in Winfield for over 20 years. In her spare time, Mrs. Tyra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and being a caregiver for others.

Amy Michelle Taylor

Amy Michelle Taylor, 48, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Winfield, passed away on Dec. 31, 2022, in Fort Myers, Fla.  
She was born on Dec. 18, 1974, in Amory, Miss., to Ronald and Jean Taylor. She was a member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church and a 1993 graduate of the Winfield City High School.
She is survived by her parents - Ronald and Jean Trentham Taylor; sister - Denise Taylor Stanback; her brother - Zach Taylor; and a niece - Jenna Caroline Borden.  
She was preceded in death by her sister - Tiffany Rena Taylor Borden.

Wilma Bly Sullins

Wilma Bly Sullins, 90, of Buford, Ga., peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at her daughter's home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 19, 1932, in Winfield to the late Walter Bly and the late Lillie Bly.
She was of the Christian faith and a former member of Norcross First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included listening to music and singing, plants, needlepoint and traveling. The most precious times to Mrs. Sullins were the moments she spent with her grandsons, Sawyer and Bailey.

Marvin Cecil Rye

Marvin Cecil Rye, 98, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton.
He was born in Alabama on Oct. 30, 1924, to John G Rye and Millie Jeffreys Rye.
He leaves to cherish his memories, sisters - Eva Dell Williams and Jimmie Lou Williams; brothers - Olan (Jo Ann) Rye and Hershel (Gail) Rye; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife - Virginia Rye; parents - John and Millie Rye; siblings - Laymon, Sanford, Jessma, Evelyn, Archie, Lemuel, Wilburn and Johnny.

Patsy Lolley Reese

Patsy Lolley Reese, 76, of Decatur, formerly of Guin, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1946, in Guin. She is the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Martin Lolley and the wife of the late Jimmy Dean Reese.  
She lived in Guin most of her life and had lived in Decatur the past 11 years. She worked at Health Tex, Walmart and helped start the Salvation Army in this area. She was a member of the West Meade Baptist Church in Decatur.
