Brilliant Tigers fall to Holy Spirit Catholic Saints 35-26

TUSCALOOSA — The Brilliant Tigers traveled to Tuscaloosa on Friday night, Oct. 20, to take on the Holy Spirt Catholic Saints and lost 26-35.
The Tigers were the first to score with five minutes left in the first quarter. Their two-point conversion attempt failed, but they were leading 6-0.
The Saints turned around and scored on a 42-yard rush to tie the game 6-6 after a missed extra point kick.
With under a minute to go, the Tigers scored again on a rushing touchdown. This time, they made it back into the end zone for two more points, and they were leading 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The Saints tied the game at 14-14 with a touchdown pass and two-point conversion with about a minute left in the first half.
Holy Spirit scored again in the third quarter with nine minutes remaining to take a 20-14 lead.
With six minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Tigers scored another rushing touchdown to tie the game again at 20-20.
With under a minute in the third quarter, the Saints scored another touchdown and two-point conversion combo to retake the lead at 28-20.
The Saints scored their final touchdown of the game with six minutes left until the final buzzer to go up to 35-20.
The Tigers closed in on the goal line, and scored on a two-yard pass. The two-point attempt was stopped short, and the final score was 35-26 in favor of the Saints.
The Tigers are now 3-5 for the season, and 1-5 in 1A Region 5.
This Friday, the Tigers will host the Berry Wildcats at 7 p.m.
