Randell Tice, 74, passed away on Aug. 10, 2022, while surrounded in love by Ryan and Amanda Tice and Teresa Shewbart.
He was born on May 3,1948, in Adrian, Mich., to Pauline Casey and Odell Tice. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1966. As a Sergeant in the United States Army, he served two tours in Vietnam, earning several awards including an air medal for meritorious achievement while participating in sustained aerial flight in support of ground forces and a purple heart for injury sustained while his helicopter was under attack.
He attended the University of Alabama, earning a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration one month before his son Ryan was born. He worked with several organizations, including Beech Aircraft (Wichita, Kan.), Lockheed Corporation (Marietta, Ga.), and the State of Georgia Department of Industrial Relations.
He enjoyed hunting, vintage and exceptional automobiles, music, especially Motown and 70s rock and history and classic movies.
Mr. Tice attended Mount Paran Church in Georgia and after moving to Alabama continued his bible study weekly through Dr. Charles Stanley’s ministry. He was a longtime supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and engaged in private philanthropy with a friend, together purchasing and donating high quality guitars to youth.
His greatest happiness and center of his pride was being a father to his son Ryan. He was proud to attend Ryan’s graduation when he earned a Master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He served as best man to Ryan when he married Amanda Clement Tice at Aldridge Gardens in Hoover. In recent years, he attended Talladega with Ryan and friends and enjoyed his trips to Tupelo with Ryan. He traveled to the Georgia mountains with Teresa to visit his close friend Jimmy Lowell (Tricia) Williams. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch with friends. This year, he adopted a miniature schnauzer named Winston “Bruiser,” who brought him much joy and companionship.
Mr. Tice leaves behind his son - Ryan (Amanda) Tice; siblings - Woodrow (Donna) Tice, Charlene (Terry) Tice Davis and Joe (Amy) Tice; aunt - Corine “Tootsie” Bobo; and special friend - Teresa Shewbart.
He was preceded in death by his mother - Pauline (Jay) Casey Tice Webb; and father - Odell Tice.
The funeral service for Mr. Tice was held on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at the Marion County Funeral Home with a graveside prayer and military honors following at the Barnesville Cemetery.
