Pirates spell doom for Blue Devils

WINFIELD — The Winfield Pirates took on the Sulligent Blue Devils at home on Friday, Feb. 4. The Pirates blew the Blue Devils away 94-55.
Winfield leaped ahead 22-11 in the first quarter and kept up the pressure in the second quarter. The score was 48-28 at halftime, putting the Pirates in a comfortable lead.
The Blue Devils came out of the locker room and scored 14 points in the third quarter, but 15 from the Pirates kept them solidly in the lead.
With the score sitting at 63-42 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Pirates unleashed a barrage of 31 points. The Blue Devils could only respond with 13 of their own.
When the smoke cleared, the Pirates had won the game by nearly 40 points, 94-55.
Logan Feltman was the top scorer for the Pirates, and scored the same number of points as Sulligent—55. He also got 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and six blocks.
Will Beasley and Preston Nelson each scored 11 points. Beasley recorded seven rebounds, one assist and two steals. Nelson recorded one rebound, two assists and two steals.
Chris Podmore score nine points and had one rebound. Kade Estill scored four points and made five rebounds and two steals.
Phoenix Sandlin and Jarrett Hosch each scored two points. Sandlin ended the game with four rebounds and one steals. Hosch grabbed two rebounds and made one assist.
Drew cook recorded six rebounds.
