HAMILTON — The Second Annual Northwest Alabama Veterans Town Hall meeting is set for next Friday, July 11, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Bevill Business Center in Hamilton.
On hand will be a number of officials from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, along with local veteran representatives and officials, all offering valuable information and assistance to veterans.
The VA Town Hall’s main objective is to help address the needs of rural veterans and their families.
Veterans from Marion County, surrounding counties and from all across Northwest Alabama, are invited.
A wide variety of subject matter experts will be on hand to answer all types of questions concerning available veteran benefits, including healthcare enrollment and claims assistance. Other veteran resources will also be provided.
All of the officials will be introduced, so veterans and their families can identify the specific specialists they wish to speak to and seek help from.
“All service members, veterans and their families from Marion, Fayette, Lamar, Franklin and Pickens counties are invited to attend,” said Marlon Holloway, veterans service officer for the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs.
Holloway noted topics addressed include health care needs and identifying local VA-certified doctors, as well as information on caregiver programs. He said officials with other supportive opportunities for veterans and their families will also be ready to answer questions and provide guidance.
The Bevill Business Center is located on the BSCC-Hamilton campus at 1333 Military Street South, Hamilton, AL 35570. For more information, contact Holloway at 205-921-3161.
