According to a drought information statement from the National Weather Service in Birmingham, Marion County is under an extreme drought.

Governor places state under no burn order

ALABAMA — Governor Kay Ivey issued a statewide No Burn Order on Wednesday, Nov. 8, due to serious drought conditions throughout the state. This order prohibits all outdoor burning in Alabama and began its effect on Thursday Nov. 9.
