HAMILTON —One of the first matters of business for the Hamilton City Council at its Monday, June 1, meeting, was the appointment of Matthew McCracken as the new fire chief in Hamilton.
McCracken has been the interim chief since March. During the meeting, Hamilton Mayor Tami Lewis Williams noted, “Pursuant to the authority vested in the office of the mayor, and in accordance with applicable municipal and state law, I, Tami Lewis Williams, hereby appoint Matthew McCracken as fire chief for the City of Hamilton, effective today.”
Williams said, in making this appointment, she gave due consideration to the opinion and recommendations of the city council, while retaining final appointing authority as provided by law.
“Congratulations!” she added.
