Bobby Bellew; running for mayor of Guin

GUIN — Hi, My name is Bobby Bellew. I’m running for the office of mayor for the City of Guin, Alabama.
I’ve been a resident of Guin for the last 28 years and have worked for 3M during that time. I’ve been married to my wife, Heather for the last 24 years. We have two beautiful girls, Ava and Scarlett. They are my “why,” the reason I want to be your next mayor. I love Guin and want my girls to have an opportunity to live and work in Guin once they enter the workforce or return from college.
My public service began shortly after arriving in Guin in 1997. I spent four years as part of the Guin Industrial Development Board before being elected to the Guin City Council. I’ve been a member of the council for the last 21 years, serving the last nine years as mayor pro tempore. I’ve served on several boards over the years, including United Way of Guin, Feed My Sheep Food Pantry and currently serving on the board for the North Mississippi Medical Center South Marion foundation. Additionally, I’ve been involved in both park and rec and high school athletics programs as a coach for over 25 years and serve as deacon in the Guin Church of Christ.
My vision for our community is simple. It’s to do all the “small things” well.
• Focus on providing high quality city services for our citizens.
• Financial responsibility/discipline and debt reduction.
• Support for existing businesses.
• Revenue growth through entrepreneurship and promotion of our interstate property.
• Quality of life improvement for our citizens by providing more entertainment, green spaces/parks and by energizing our park and rec program.
• More mid-range housing.
None of these things are easy, and they will not happen overnight, but if we have everyone pulling in the right direction and with a similar vision, we can and will do big things for our community and our region.
