Marion County Historical Society awarded $6,000 RC&D grant

Marion County Historical Society President Mike Williams thanked officials with RC&D for their recent $6,000 grant award.

HAMILTON — Marion County Historical Society President Mike Williams stopped by the Journal-Record lately wanting to acknowledge a $6,000 Northwest Alabama Resource and Conservation Development grant awarded for 2026.
The historical society’s plans for the funds received from the grant monies include the purchase of electronic equipment (book scanner and page scanner) to preserve historical documents, and equipment to be used for presentations, including a big screen television, a projector and a portable screen.
The funds will also be used for enhancements to its website at mcalhs.org.
“We’ll use these funds to purchase equipment for the photographing of historical documents to be published on our website, and equipment for historical presentations for school students, as well,” Williams noted.
“Please check out our website to see lots of historical documents, historical photos, an events calendar, membership information and a membership application.”
