MARION COUNTY — There seems to be no doubt folks in and around Marion County love their fireworks displays, and we’re definitely sure most of the municipalities really enjoy making sure everyone celebrates Independence Day with a blast, hosting fireworks shows throughout the county both on Friday, July 4, and on Saturday, July 5, this year in
several locations.
Town of Brilliant
fireworks show
Friday, July 4
The Town of Brilliant will hold its fireworks show on the Fourth of July itself--Friday--on Main Street in downtown Brilliant.
The Independence Day celebration begins at 6 p.m. with Backdraft performing on the CoalFest stage.
A food vendor will also be on location, so attendees can take advantage of the opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves.
The fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. and is viewable from the street near the main stage area.
“I’d like to invite everybody out to see our fireworks show,” said Brilliant Mayor Perry Franks. “I think we’re going to have a good show. We’ll shoot several thousand dollars worth of fireworks up here.
“If you don’t have something going on the Fourth of July, come on up to Brilliant. The football team will be cooking hamburgers. I’d like to invite everybody to come out and be with us.
“Backdraft will be the music for the Fourth. They’ll start at 6 p.m. and play until 9 p.m. when we do the fireworks.”

Fulton Bridge Baptist Church in Hamilton
fireworks Friday, July 4
For years, the big booms of the fireworks show at Fulton Bridge Baptist Church in Hamilton have been heard near and far. This year, why not go in person and take the entire family to view and enjoy the display?
The church’s fireworks show will be held on Friday, July 4, at approximately 8:45-9 p.m., at the church located right off of Interstate 22 (Exit 14) at 3090 County Highway 55.
Pastor Shane Stidham said, “Everybody is invited out to our fireworks show. It’s one way we can help our community and provide a local show families can enjoy together.
“It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our country, and to glorify the good Lord.
“Thanks to all those who donate to the cause and help in any way to make this fireworks show possible.”
Shane’s wife, Sister Kimbo, said the event will start at 8 p.m., with food and fellowship.
“Come on out at 8 p..m. and bring a chair, and enjoy food and fellowship until dark and then the fireworks will begin,” she said.

City of Guin
fireworks show
Saturday, July 5
The City of Guin sponsors an amazing fireworks show each year, a tradition the city has continued for more than four decades.
The free fireworks show will be held Saturday, July 5, at the Hayden-Riley Park in Guin, beginning around 9 p.m. But the city also schedules musical entertainment and food vendors beginning at 7 p.m., so families can come on out and join in the fun and relax before the show.
This year’s special musical guest is Chase Wilson of Tuscaloosa.
Mayor Phil Segraves noted, “Guin’s fireworks show has always been a professional show. The companies we hire--fireworks is what they do. Guin is probably one of the premiere cities to do these types of shows, and we started this tradition years ago.
“We’re proud of the product we have and the show that will be professional from start to finish. Come on out and join us and celebrate our independence. We should all be especially proud this year.”

Bear Creek fireworks & Friendship
Festival Saturday, July 5
The Town of Bear Creek also hosts a fireworks show as part of its Friendship Festival at Twin Forks Park on Upper Bear Creek, scheduled this year for Saturday, July 5.
Beginning shortly after 9 p.m., the display is visible anywhere in the park, as well as by boat on the creek.
The Friendship Festival, with its Independence Day theme, begins earlier on Saturday with the car and motorcycle show registration at 8 a.m., vendors and music at 10 a.m., headliners starting at 1 p.m., and music and entertainment continuing right up until the fireworks show.
Most of the festivities take place in the picnic area of Twin Forks Park, located at 740 Twin Forks Road. Mayor Rob Taylor invites one and all to join in the fun, encouraging attendees to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the live music, holiday fellowship, delicious food offerings, the wide variety of merchandise vendors and the great car and motorcycle show.

Hackleburg
fireworks
& Neighbor Day
Saturday, July 5
The Town of Hackleburg will have a fireworks show as its grand finale of Neighbor Day on Saturday, July 5, at 9:30 p.m. The fireworks show will be viewable from the main stage area, located on Walker Street in downtown Hackleburg.
Mayor Darryl Colburn said, “We always close out our festival with our fireworks show. It has really grown to be one of the best fireworks shows in Northwest Alabama.
“We have people come in from different communities and talk about how they’ve heard about our show and how they traveled over to watch it and enjoy it. So, we put a little bit of pride into having a show people enjoy watching. We’re pretty pleased to end our Neighbor Day event with a great fireworks show.”
Neighbor Day festivities begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with food and merchandise vendors, a car show and live music, continuing all throughout the day right up until the fireworks show.
