Raiders win NAC meet

WINFIELD — The Marion County High School boys’ and girls’ varsity track and field teams won the 2024 North Alabama Conference Championship meet on Wednesday, March 13. The meet was hosted in Winfield, with Brilliant, Hackleburg, Lynn, Marion County and Phillips high schools competing for the NAC championship.

Phillips High School hosts career event

BEAR CREEK – Phillips High School students had the opportunity to learn more about possible college and career paths at a career expo on Friday, Nov. 18.
Representatives from Honda, numerous programs from Bevill State Community College and other businesses were present to talk to students about their college and career options after high school.
Honda representatives presented students with information while they raced Formula 1 cars around a virtual track in a racing simulator.

Bears maul Tigers 53-0 on homecoming night

BRILLIANT — The Phillips Bears defeated the Brilliant High Tigers 53-0 on Friday night, Sept. 23.
The Tigers kicked off to start their homecoming game, and the Bears quickly gained the yards they needed to score their first touchdown on the night, scored by Phillips’ Joshua Mann.
The Tigers were able to gain some yards during their first possession, but it ended in a fourth-down punt.
The Bears returned the punt to the 50-yard line, but a series of penalties forced them back deep into their own territory.
