Suspects evade Hamilton and Winfield police

The Hamilton Police Department was involved in a high speed chase that ended in a suspect eluding law enforcement on Sunday, Sept. 3, in Hamilton.
According to Hamilton Police Chief Jordan Carter, unidentified suspects attempted to enter Fred’s Pharmacy on the night of Sept. 3.
“Some suspects tried to gain entrance into the business. We had an officer nearby that had initiated a vehicle pursuit,” said Carter.
Carter stated the chase was soon made very difficult due to the speed of the car involved in the attempted theft.
“Our officer stayed up with it as long as he could. I believe Winfield Police attempted a spike strip on that vehicle. He ended up avoiding that spike strip by taking an exit, at which point he went through the City of Winfield,” Carter stated.
According to the police chief, the vehicle was caught on Winfield surveillance cameras traveling at high speeds towards Fayette.
“Our investigators have worked with several local and state agencies to get some information that will hopefully lead to an arrest,” said Carter.
“We’ve got a lot of credible information, and we hope to bring them to justice.”
During the Hamilton City Council meeting that took place on Monday, Sept. 4, in Hamilton, Councilman Wade Williams asked Carter if Hamilton PD uses spike strips, following a briefing about the chase.
According to Carter, Hamilton is in possession of an unspecified amount of spike strips that were purchased during Chief Ronny Vickery’s time at the department.
