Winfield – The announcement of the cancelation of the annual Mule Day festival has been met with mixed emotions, and one vendor is voicing his disappointment
The Winfield Chamber of Commerce pulled the plug on the annual festival with an announcement on Monday, Aug. 16, a month out from the scheduled date of Sept. 24-25, citing public health concerns due to a surge in COVID-19 cases being experienced statewide.
The cancelation marks the second Mule Day to fall victim to COVID-19, leaving about 200 scheduled vendors with an empty weekend. An estimated 25,000 individuals visit the City of Winfield during the festival, which largely appeals to those looking to patronize street vendors and local businesses.
