Bears, Tigers go head to head

BEAR CREEK — The Phillips Bears defeated the Brilliant Tigers in a matchup that took place on Thursday night, Dec. 1, in Bear Creek.
The home team was good defensively, stopping Brilliant from putting a good run together.
Following their win against the Tigers, Phillips went up against Vina away from home.
As of press time, this game had not yet been played.
After their home game against Brilliant, the Bears’ record sits at 3-1, which is a good start for the season ahead.

Tigers end season with 41-0 loss to Stallions

BRILLIANT — The Brilliant Tigers’ season came to an end after a 41-0 loss to the visiting South Lamar Stallions on Friday night, Oct. 28.
South Lamar took the lead early in the first quarter, leading 27-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Tigers started to drive as the second quarter began, but an intercepted pass gave the Stallions another touchdown, putting them ahead 34-0 with 7:25 to go in the first half.

Brilliant Tigers fall to Lynn Bears 45-6

BRILLIANT — The Brilliant Tigers lost 45-6 at home to the visiting Lynn Bears on Friday night, Oct. 7.
The Bears quickly gained the lead, scoring two touchdowns in the opening minutes of the game.
The Tigers tried to retaliate, but a fumble put the Bears back in control. The Bears seized the opportunity and scored again, leading 21-0 with just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Tigers fall prey to Hubbertville Lions

HUBBERTVILLE —  The Brilliant Tigers lost to the Hubbertville Lions 42-8 on Friday, Sept. 30, but managed to break their scoreless streak.
The Lions scored 36 points in the first three quarters, before the Lions managed to score a touchdown and 2 point conversion on a 23 yard run in the fourth quarter.
The loss puts the Tigers’ record at 0-6 for the season and 0-4 in their region.
This Friday, the Tigers will play the Lynn Bears at home at 7 p.m.

Brilliant Tigers struggle to get going in Sumiton

SUMITON —  The Brilliant Tigers’ scoreless streak continues after a 49-0 on-the-road loss to Sumiton Christian on Friday night, Sept. 16.
The Eagles scored four touchdowns in the first quarter, and consistently sent the extra point kicks through the uprights to go ahead 28-0.
In the second quarter, the Eagles scored one touchdown on a 44-yard run to increase their lead to 35-0.
In the third quarter, they scored again on a 10-yard run to go ahead 42-0.

Marion County shuts out Brilliant 62-0

BRILLIANT — The Marion County Red Raiders shut down the Brilliant Tigers 62-0 on Thursday night, Sept. 1.
The Tigers kicked off, and within the opening 25 seconds of the game, the Raiders were ahead 6-0 with a touchdown run by Cade Atkins and a blocked extra point kick.

WATERLOO — The Brilliant Tigers will want to move on as quickly as possible after Friday night’s 53-8 defeat against the Waterloo Cougars in Waterloo.
Waterloo started the scoring in the first quarter, scoring three touchdowns.
The Cougars scored from a field goal attempt in the second quarter, making their lead 21-0 at the end of the first half of play.

Brilliant Tigers lose lead in early defeat Thursday

LYNN — The Brilliant Tigers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 21-0 loss to Lynn on Thursday, March 17. Lynn scored on a single by Blake Boyd, a single by David Uptain, a walk by Hunter Alexander, a single by John Paul Burkett, a double by Marcus Meeks and a single by Luke Alexander in the first inning.
Brilliant struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Lynn, giving up 21 runs.
Lynn opened up scoring in the first inning. Boyd drove in one when Boyd singled.

BRILLIANT -  The Brilliant Tigers punched their ticket to the postseason on Friday night, Oct. 23, after claiming a hardfought 21-20 victory over the Red Raiders of Marion County High School in a pivotal Class 1A, Region 6 matchup.
Marion County was the first team to find the end zone, but Brilliant used three second quarter scores to gain a comfortable 21-6 lead before heading into the halftime break.
