Park Day will be held on May 18

WINFIELD - Winfield Park and Recreation Department Director Gina Bryant announced that the Fifth Annual Park Fest has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 18, at the Ivan K. Hill Recreational Park in Winfield.
Bryant said the event will feature live music, fleamarket vendors, arts and crafts, inflatables, community helpers, local businesses and churches, city departments, state and marine police and the National Guard. The Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter will land at 10 a.m. and children will be allowed to look at it, Bryant said.

Park receives $10K grant for accessible bathrooms

Winfield’s Komatsu Mining Corporation donated $10,000 to the Ivan K. Hill Recreational Park in Winfield for a renovation that will give the park all-accessible restrooms. WINFIELD - Winfield’s Ivan K. Hill Recreational Park received a $10,000 grant from Komatsu Mining Corporation that will partially fund new all-accessible bathrooms.
This change was inspired by Girl Scout Wren Williamson, who approached both the park board and the Winfield City Council requesting that action be taken to make the bathrooms handicap accessible.
Williamson has been conducting fundraising projects, hoping to purchase an adult-sized changing table for the new bathrooms.
