WINFIELD - The Winfield City School Board of Education voted during their meeting on Thursday, July 22, to approve the transfer of George Hennicke to the athletic director position.
The transfer comes after the resignation of former athletic director Amber Deline. Hennicke came highly recommended from interim superintendent Randy Thomley.
“I support fully Mr. Thomley’s recommendation of George,” said school board chairman James Garner. “George has a quality reputation as a PE teacher and our kids love him. He also enjoys a good reputation outside our school as a quality softball and baseball pitching and hitting instructor. He will bring an unbiased approach to our athletic program and I feel will give each sport quality leadership.”
“The position of athletic director for Winfield City Schools requires several responsibilities,” Thomley said in his recommendation. “Most are easily measurable by the description attached to them, however some of the unmeasurable responsibilities are considered to be just as important as those that are measurable.”
