Bevill State and Marion County Schools to expand dual enrollment opportunities with new Marion County College & Career Academy

HAMILTON — Bevill State Community College and Marion County Schools have entered into a new agreement to expand dual enrollment opportunities for students through the creation of the Marion County College & Career Academy on the Bevill State Hamilton campus. The Memorandum of Understanding was approved by Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker of the Alabama Community College System and signed by Baker and BSCC President Dr. Joel Hagood on Wednesday, Aug. 13. Dr. Patrick Sutton, superintendent of Marion County Schools, signed the agreement following approval by the Marion County Board of Education on Aug.15.

Town hall for veterans set for Friday, July 11, at Bevill Business Center

HAMILTON — The Second Annual Northwest Alabama Veterans Town Hall meeting is set for next Friday, July 11, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Bevill Business Center in Hamilton. On hand will be a number of officials from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, along with local veteran representatives and officials, all offering valuable information and assistance to veterans.

Bevill State to host Dual Enrollment parent meetings

Bevill State Community College invites high school students and their guardians to attend its upcoming Dual Enrollment parent meetings. These sessions are open to all high school students—including homeschooled students—and will provide valuable information on eligibility requirements, available funding and the academic and career advantages of Dual Enrollment.

Miss Hamilton/Miss Hamilton’s Teen pageant set for Saturday


The current titleholders are Miss Hamilton 2024 Jayla Duncan, the competition's first African American titleholder; and Miss Hamilton's Teen 2024 Megan Malloy.
HAMILTON — The Miss Hamilton and Miss Hamilton's Teen Pageant will be held this Saturday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Bevill State Community College auditorium in Hamilton. The Miss Hamilton Pageant is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

HAMILTON — Multiple agencies have come together and created the inaugural Marion County Outdoor Expo. Held on Friday, March 1, it brought in youngsters from multiple parts of the county to participate in events, such as turkey calling, and a motivational speech by former Hamilton resident and BASS professional angler Clay Dyer.
