Donnie Cochran

Danny Ray Cochran, 78, of Hackleburg, passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025. He was born on Feb. 22, 1947, in Hackleburg to Tellie and Ruby “Kat” Cochran. Danny, better known  as “Papa,” worked at HMH Supply in Bear Creek, for 30 plus years, before retiring in 2007. Papa was a man of very few words, but was a friend to all. You could find him sitting on the bench at the Panther Mart with a cup of coffee anytime you drove through Hackleburg. He loved spending time with his family, but when he got ready to go, there was no changing his mind. “That train was leaving,” and if you were suppose to ride with him, you better beat him to the truck. Papa will be so very missed by all.
Danny is survived by his children, David (Sheila) Cochran, Billy (Kari) Cochran, Linda Purser (Rickey Boatner) and Eric Cochran (Lesia Phillips); grandchildren, Drake Cochran, Amber (Terry) White, Summer (Randy) Barnes, Amy (Vinson) Cochran, Kamden and Kenzie Cochran; great-grandchildren, Taygen, Kylie, Kason, Carson and Marley Cochran, WillaGray and Lainey Barnes, Jaliyah, Jaiden and Jaxon White and Aubrey and Kaylee Cason; sibling, Gary (Teresa) White.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Cochran; parents, Tellie and Ruby Kathrine “Kat” Cochran; brother, Jerry Cochran; and many friends and family.
Funeral services were held on March 2, 2025, at the Hackleburg Community Church, with burial following at Cedar Tree Cemetery.
