Dizzy Dean’s Fireworks Super Center to celebrate July 4 with 4,000 square inch cake

WINFIELD — Dizzy Dean’s Fireworks Super Center will be celebrating July 4th with a giant 4,000 square-inch American flag cake to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.
The large cake should be enough to feed around 900 customers, and there will be lots of other ways for people to celebrate this year’s important Fourth of July.
The celebration on July 4th should begin around 10 a.m. that morning. There will also be a vendor selling mini bundt cakes, shaved ice and maybe more the day before on Friday, July 3. In addition, Dizzy Dean’s will offer all of its usual treats and deals, such as free popcorn for customers and buy-one-get-the-same-amount-free on all fireworks.
“We’re the only ones who do that—anywhere,” said owner Glenn Dodd. “Which is what has built our business to be what it is.”
Dizzy Dean’s is also home to the world’s largest disco firecracker, along with a giant 8-foot prize wheel. The wheel, which was built by Winfield City High School students, can be spun by customers who spend $200 to win up to $50 more in free fireworks. There are also fun cutouts for photo opportunities.
Dizzy Dean’s will also have a special table with fireworks and other products designed specifically for America’s 250th birthday.
The cake itself will be brought in in sections and assembled on-site on Saturday, July 4. According to Dodd, this July 4th is a big one for the fireworks industry, and he and Dizzy Dean’s want to celebrate in a big way.
“The fireworks industry as a whole has been really gearing up planning for 2026 for the last few years, because the Fourth falls on a Saturday, and that’s kind of a best-case scenario for fireworks sales,” he said. “With America’s 250th, we’re just really expecting people to go off the charts with the celebration this year, so we just want to do something special.
“We’ve also been open here at the super center for about five years, so we also want to show our customers our appreciation!”
Dizzy Dean’s is open year-round on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and they’re open every day during busy seasons.
Dodd added he is grateful for the support from all the customers in the community, and he is excited to see the growth of business and industry in Winfield.
“We are the largest fireworks super center in North Alabama,” he said. “There’s a lot happening at Exit 30 on the interstate, and it’s growing. We’re very pleased with the super center!”
Dizzy Dean’s Fireworks Super Center is located in Winfield at 135 Bob Lawrence Drive off of State Highway 129 near I-22 off of Exit 30. It is currently open daily through July 11.
