MARION COUNTY — When the Marion County Career Academy kicks off this fall, students will have a huge opportunity to further their education and prepare for their futures,  while also saving their parents (and themselves) a lot of money on career tech and college courses.
A total of 11 program offerings will be available, with five selections through the career academy itself—made possible through the Marion County Board of Education—and six educational preferences available through Bevill State Community College-Hamilton.
MCCA selections include  General Ag (Agriscience), Industrial Ag, Teachers in Training, Business Management and Health Science.
Bevill pathways include Electrical Systems Technology, Welding, Automotive Technology, Machine Tool, HVAC and Advanced Engineering Design Technology.
The Journal-Record interviewed MCBOE Career Tech Director Josh Weatherly and Assistant Career Tech Director Benja Jackson to learn more about all of these possible career pathways. The duo also shared some of the highlights on the career academy and new student opportunities.
Weatherly noted the career academy provides a huge opportunity for students to find a career pathway they are interested in as a way to make money to fund their futures.
