Marcia Ann Franks
Mrs. Marcia Ann Franks, 69, of Winfield, passed away on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at UAB Hospital. She was born on July 11, 1956, in Guin, to Robert and Mildred Davis McGuire.
Marcia was a faithful member of the Winfield Church of Christ and a 1974 graduate of Marion County High School. Following high school, she pursued a degree in education at the University of North Alabama in Florence, where she earned her master’s degree. Marcia devoted 30 years of her life to teaching, spending the majority of her career at Guin Elementary School, where she touched countless lives and was loved by students and colleagues alike. Above all else, Marcia cherished her family. She loved spending her spare time caring for her children and being “ShaSha” to her beloved grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting event or school activity and was always their biggest supporter. In her downtime, Marcia enjoyed shopping and was well known for her love of doing laundry.
Mrs. Franks is survived by her children, Blake Franks (Payten) and Lisa Ann Mullins (Drew); grandchildren, Dani Kate Franks, Eliza Jane Lovett, Charlotte Ray Mullins, Lydia Scott Franks, Addy Lowe Mullins and Ja’Borri McGhee; her brother, Bob McGuire (Mary Louise); and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by her husband, Tim Franks; her parents-in-law, Lowell and Faye Franks; and her sister-in-law, Nancy McGuire.
Funeral services for Marcia will be held on Jan. 8, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Winfield Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Children’s Hospital of Alabama at ChildrensAL.org/Donate.
