Mary Bryant
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Harrod Bryant, 87, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, at her residence. Mary was born in Guin, Ala., on Jan. 31, 1938, to Rufus and Dorlis Henson Harrod.
Mary was a member of the Eldridge Baptist Church and was a talented seamstress. She worked in the textile industry for many years with Munsingwear in Guin from 1975 until it closed in 1989 and Oneida Industry in Fayette until her retirement. After her retirement, she worked part time at Ivies Supermarket and later in the cafeterias at Winfield City School. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed being with her family and having family gatherings. Mary loved going to church at Eldridge Baptist Church where she was baptized and being with her church family. She enjoyed working in her flowers, going on her annual beach trip with her three daughters and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Mary is survived by her children, four sons, Dennis Bryant of Brilliant, Joey Bryant of Winfield, Matthew Bryant (Vickie) of Vance and Eddie Bryant (Laura) of Greenwell Springs, La.; three daughters, Bonita Eads (Barry) of Fort Morgan, Ala., Teresa Eads of Kansas, Ala., and Michelle Anderson of Jasper; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way; a brother, Tom Harrod (Patricia) of Calvert City, Ky.; sisters, Margene Martin of Fayette, Hildred Ellis of Okolona, Miss., and Frances Johnson of Winfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bryant; brothers, Johnny Harrod, Clarence Harrod and Bobby Harrod; sisters, Louise McCamey, Lola Gann and Clarice Smith; sons-in-law, Stanley Panter and Larry Eads; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Bryant.
Funeral services for Mary were held on Oct. 22, 2025, at the Eldridge Baptist Church with burial following in the Union Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Fayette Medical Center, FMC Home Health Agency, Hospice of Northwest Alabama and Dr. Martha Jo Christian and her amazing staff for the love, care and support shown during this difficult time.
