Gene Sanderson, 89, of Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, at his residence.
Born April 17, 1935, in Marion County, Ala., he is the son of the late Elmer and Rebecca Harris Sanderson and the husband of the late Emma Jean McDaniel Sanderson.
He had lived in Orange Beach, Ala., and Hamilton most of his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton. He was a businessman, home builder and a coach at Vina, Hackleburg, Phil Campbell, Bear Creek and Millport.
He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Hammitte (Mark); two sons, Scotty Sanderson (Leslie) of Hamilton, and Allen Sanderson (Karen) of Birmingham; six grandchildren, Hannon McDaniel Sanderson (Hannah), Harris Mobley Sanderson (Leah), Peyton Sanderson, Gracie Sanderson, Zachary Hammitte (Taylor) and Jennifer Bryant (Zach); two great-grandchildren, Liam Bryant and Lettie Bryant.
Funeral services were held Nov. 6, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Hamilton with burial in the Hamilton City Cemetery. Bro. Hannon Sanderson and Bro. Jeremy Sorrells officiated.
