Mr. Edward Dell Bowen, 90, of Fayette passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Marion County on August 16, 1933, to Odie and Ada Belle Head Bowen. He was a member of Rehobeth Baptist church and a 1953 graduate of Hubbertville High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until 1961. He was employed with Arvin Manufacturing for many years until his retirement. In his free time, Ed enjoyed raising beagles and rabbit hunting, whittling cedar, watching football and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bowen is survived by four grandchildren, Jon Bowen (Ashley), Brad Bowen (Ginger), Alicia Lowery (Kyle), and Justin Bowen (Gerri); eleven great-grandchildren, Tucker, Sawyer, Banks, Jax, Brooks, Brylee, Ashley, Anna, Nathaniel, Nevaeh and Olivia; brother, Marion Corbett (Edwina); daughters-in-law, Cathy Bowen and Kim Bowen McCollum (Dennis); and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Mary Alice Dodson Bowen; sons, Jerry and Tommy Bowen; daughter-in-law, Doris Bowen; brothers, Johnny, Allen, and Tom Bowen and Robert Corbett; sisters, Bettye Green, Martha Silas and Colleen Everette Bunn; and an infant brother, Junior.
Funeral services for Ed were held on June 22, 2024, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial that followed in the Sand Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hubbertville Booster Club in Ed’s honor.
