Heyward Lolley

Heyward Verlon Lolley, 91, of Guin, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024. Mr. Lolley was born August 14, 1932, in Hackleburg. Mr. Lolley was a car salesman for over 40 years working for Bob Arnold, Jim Skinner and Lonnie Russell Ford in the Birmingham area before moving back to his childhood home in Guin.
He served in the Korean War from 1953-1955. He loved gardening, having as many as three large fields at one time, much to the dismay of his wife Joyce. Like his mother, Anna, Heyward had a green thumb, and he enjoyed working the earth, yielding an abundance of vegetables and giving most away.
His hobbies were quail, deer and turkey hunting. Having lost his eyesight at age 65, he continued to love and encourage his family. He enjoyed listening to Leland Live and Swap n Shop on the radio and was always keenly aware of politics. He could be found every Friday night listening to local football games and baseball games and his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce Freeman Lolley, of Guin; three children, Deborah Lolley Chaffin (Doug), Pam Lolley Pollard (Steve) and Steve Lolley (Sherrae), all of Guin; seven grandchildren, Kelley Chaffin Shirley (Scott) Trussville, Jared Chaffin (Amber) Chelsea, Kacie Chaffin Aston (Matthew) Trussville, Alana Pollard Hawkins (Scott) of Guin, Aaron Pollard (Meredith) of Tuscaloosa, Natalie Lolley Jones (Derick) of Winfield and Hannah Lolley of Florence; ten great-grandchildren, Christian Shirley, Harper, Lincoln, and Evie Jo Aston, Jase and Judah Chaffin, Dalton and Avie Jane Hawkins, Lydia Joyce and Eva Rose Jones; sister, Betty (Dock) Lynn; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Alvin and Anna Jackson Lolley; and brothers, Bill, Ed and Hubert Lolley.
