Aggies, Lady Raiders win state track meet

The Marion County Lady Red Raiders and the Hamilton Aggies have each won their respective state track meets, hosted from Thursday, May 2, through May 4.
Hamilton traveled to Gulf Shores to compete in the 4A-7A meet, while all other Marion County teams traveled to Cullman for the 1A-3A meet.
The Aggies won the 4A state boys’ meet with 94 points, over Brooks in second place with 56 points and Anniston in third with 54 points.
The Lady Red Raiders won with 84 points over Marengo with 55 points and Winterboro with 54 points.

Panthers wallop Bears 17-1 Thursday

BEAR CREEK — The Hackleburg Panthers proved why they are tops in their region, walloping Phillips 17-1 Thursday, March 23.
Jaxon Fincher and Blaise Vickery shared pitching duties for the Panthers, with Fincher striking out 7 and allowing 4 hits for 1 run.  Vickery struck out 5 and allowed no hits.
Phillips’ Hunter Orman and Bo Green shared pitching duties, with Orman striking out 2 and allowing 9 hits for 15 runs.  Green struck out 3 and allowed 1 hit for 2 runs.

Phillips Bears defeat Belgreen in area win

BEAR CREEK — The Phillips Bears had a banner week on the court, knocking off two of their area rivals on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
The Bears welcomed Belgreen and came out with a strong 55-41 victory. It was the first time the Bears have defeated Belgreen in seven years, as well as Belgreen’s first area loss in four years.

BEAR CREEK — The Phillips Bears defeated the Brilliant Tigers in a matchup that took place on Thursday night, Dec. 1, in Bear Creek.
The home team was good defensively, stopping Brilliant from putting a good run together.
Following their win against the Tigers, Phillips went up against Vina away from home.
As of press time, this game had not yet been played.
After their home game against Brilliant, the Bears’ record sits at 3-1, which is a good start for the season ahead.

Meek Lions end Phillips’ streak in big win

BEAR CREEK        -  Two undefeated teams once again entered the grid Friday night, Sept. 16, but the Meek Tigers’ winning streak remained hot with a 40-6 defeat of the Phillips Bears.
After a few swapped possessions and no score on the board,  A deep Tiger pass was picked off by Lathan Burton for the Bears for possession deep at the Tiger 10.  Tiger defenders kept the plays short and on 4th down, Hayden Hulsey attempted a field goal from 15 yards out, with 3:30 in the first quarter. The ball failed to part the uprights, leaving it scoreless.
