HAMILTON — Please remind any veterans you know about the special program to be held in their honor next Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The Fourth Annual Marion County Veterans Day Program starts at 9 a.m. and continues until noon at the Bevill Business & Community Center, located on the campus of Bevill State Community College-Hamilton at 1333 Military St. S., Hamilton, AL 35570.
The event is open to all veterans, their families and their friends from all across the county and throughout the surrounding areas.
After a meet-and-greet, the main program and ceremonial activities will be held, followed by a lunch where veterans will be served first, and then families and other guests.
At the conclusion of the closing ceremony and the playing of Taps, a large group photo of veterans will be taken.
The main sponsors for the annual Veterans Day program are Bevill State and the City of Hamilton. Other monetary sponsors include the Marion County Commission, Alabama Power and Tombigbee Electric Cooperative.
“This event is held each year to honor the veterans who served our country, those on the home front and the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice,” Marion County Veterans Service Officer Marlon Holloway said.
“Special guests include Marine Sergeant Major Ronnie Dickey (retired) and the Marine Corps Color Guard of Bessemer, along with the former mayor of Hamilton, Bob Page.”
For more information on the program or ways to donate, contact Holloway at 205-921-3161.
