Drill
GUIN-Sunset Manor recently held an educational and eye-opening active shooter safety drill, demonstrating our facility’s ongoing commitment to the safety and preparedness of both residents and staff.
The event was an outstanding success, bringing together multiple community partners and emergency response agencies for a coordinated, hands-on training experience.
The drill was carefully planned and executed with the expert assistance of Marion County Emergency Management Agency Director Russ Taylor; Guin Police Chief Daryl Spencer and Officer Matthew Chandler; and members of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, including chief deputy Billy Pendley, drug task force deputy Zach Langston, sergeant Kevin Bryant and deputy Judd Tucker.
Their collaboration and leadership ensured a realistic and educational scenario that strengthened staff awareness and response readiness.
Special thanks are also extended to Beth Kimbrell, LBSW, with the Alabama Department of Public Health, who serves as the Shoals Healthcare Coalition Coordinator, for her integral role in planning and organizing this important event.
This proactive training opportunity not only enhanced our emergency preparedness, but also fostered strong partnerships between Sunset Manor and our local first responders.
Together, we continue to make resident and staff safety our top priority—because preparedness saves lives. Sunset Manor is committed to safety, care and community.
